Walmart officially confirmed that it made a $3.1 billion offer to end thousands of complaints alleging its pharmacy network helped exacerbate the country’s nationwide opioid crisis.

The settlement proposal would put an end to more than 2,000 lawsuits cities, states, counties, and Native American tribes filed against Walmart, Law360 reports.

Walmart reportedly also wants to preemptively avoid any potential lawsuits brought by government entities in the future.

Walmart opioid settlement offer will provide ‘significant aid’ to communities across US

In a statement, Walmart says the settlement amount will provide “significant aid” to communities across the United States dealing with opioid abuse.

Walmart also denies the allegations brought against it, does not admit any wrongdoing with its settlement offer and says it will continue to dispute allegations the proposed settlement fails to resolve, Law360 reports.

In total, the Walmart opioid settlement will reportedly include $2.4 billion for addiction and other related treatment, $325 million in costs and attorney fees and credits from prior opioid settlements.

Last month, Walmart agreed to pay $215 million and provide law enforcement in Florida with hundreds of thousands of overdose treatment kits to resolve claims the company exacerbated an opioid crisis in the state

I was prescribed opioids on a monthly basis from the time I was 19 until I was 27, like ridiculous amounts… add me

    1. Bonnie Townsend says:

I’ve been on opioids for years. They first prescribed me 90 Percocets a month and now they didn’t switch me over to 90 morphines 30 mg a month. I am on them now. I have previously went through an addiction with a different drug prior and I beat it only for the hospital to give me something that would make me feel even worse, The withdrawals were worse than anything I had ever experienced in my life. It makes you feel like your bones are breaking. You’re cold. You feel sick. You poop on yourself. You throw up you sweat. You shake. It’s a lot that goes behind this opioid thing and now I feel like it’s too late because if I don’t take it then I’m going to be sick. But I had just beat addiction. This is something that I did not want in my life anymore. Now I don’t know what the hell to do and now that they got me on it, I’ve been taking morphine for a year consecutively now or more but before that it was Percocets. Now I didn’t have an addiction to Percocets but for some reason I do go through withdrawals for morphine. It is horrible. It gives you diarrhea and everything. Anyway, the point of the story is I am so sad that they ended up giving me something that was worse than a habit that I broke before. Now I feel like I’m an addict and I don’t want to be this. This was not my choice. This was not my choice! I would love to be added. I have proof in my records that I was prescribed both medications. Please add me. I’ve been looking for help with this situation. Everybody tell me I don’t qualify but this is not fair. They put me right back in the position that I broke free from and now I don’t know what the hell to do. Excuse my French
