A new Walmart class action lawsuit alleges the retail giant overcharges consumers for food, baby products, appliances and other products.

Plaintiff Quina Myers claims Walmart charged incorrect prices for items tagged in the aisles between Feb. 1 and July 29, 2024.

Myers says she shopped for food and baby products at Walmart during this timeframe. When she reviewed her receipts, she says she noticed the price she was charged did not match the price quoted on the product.

She says she selected the items with the expectation she would be charged the amount on the price sticker. However, when she checked out, โ€œWalmartโ€™s [point of sale] system deceptively, programmatically and artificially increased the prices of the products,โ€ the Walmart class action lawsuit says.

The Walmart class action lawsuit notes the retail giant accounted for more than a quarter of all grocery revenues in the United States, accumulating $648 billion in sales in 2024.

Myers claims Walmart gained its market power by squeezing out smaller grocery stores and other retailers with its low prices and consolidated shopping experiences.

Walmart class action says consumers charged prices that do not match sticker price

The Rollback stickers, price stickers and yellow stickers printed on items are important to consumersโ€™ purchasing decisions and entice them to purchase the products at the listed prices, the Walmart class action lawsuit alleges.

Consumers reasonably expect they will be charged for the amount listed on the Rollback stickers, price stickers and yellow stickers, Myers claims. She claims consumers were charged amounts that exceeded the lowest advertised prices on the price stickers, causing them to suffer actual damage by overpaying for the products.

Myers filed the Walmart class action lawsuit on behalf of herself and a proposed nationwide class of consumers who purchased Roll Back or Price Sticker products from a Walmart store in the United States during the class period. She also seeks to represent a Pennsylvania subclass.

The Walmart class action lawsuit asserts claims for violations of Pennsylvaniaโ€™s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, declaratory judgment and unjust enrichment.

Walmart employees recently won a โ€˜substantialโ€™ settlement over required pre-shift COVID-19 screenings.

    The over-priced products at Walmart happen all the time. That is why I scan my own products when checking out and I take a picture of the shelf tag if something is marked down on clearance because most of the time the product will register the regular price. I am tired of having to call someone to the register to fix it and then it takes them forever to go to the shelf to verify the price. A lot of times they will tell me that it was on the wrong shelf. I worked in retail for many years and we were taught that the customer was always right. That doesnโ€™t happen anymore so take a picture and make sure the tag is for the product. Yes, count me in. CAS

      I always have to watch the cashiers because this is a constant on going thing with Walmart itโ€™s not limited to baby stuff and food itโ€™s everything

    Yes! Iโ€™ve encountered this constantly! I always review my receipts and if thereโ€™s an overcharge, I report it!
    Thereโ€™s been cases where items were โ€œincreasedโ€ in quality! For example: if you scanned multiple items of the same thing, even if it was scanned one by one or total manually added on. The worst one ever, which the Store Manager was FURIOUS (because he could replicate it!) when the cashier put in 12 cans, it listed 36 cans individually (and charged you for this). I caught this before everything was paid. The Cashier had to remove them all โ€œone by oneโ€ until the system went into an error (too many voids), the Supervisor was right there the entire time being. Until she VOIDED the earlier transaction and they had to RESCAN and once the Supervisor got the can, she input 12 x scanned one can, it came up 48 cans! The Store Manager who was standing nearby (with the Delivery Team) saw this, he walked over and voided the entire transaction and HE HIMSELF processed it, and it rang up 96 cans! He voided the transaction and rang it up (all 12 cans) manually, it would up 68 cans! (Yes, that was AFTER he rang it up before he scanned the next product)! Since the cans were only 57 cents each. He grabbed the calculator (that was on the rack) opened it, and calculated the total cost (thereโ€™s no tax on food) and he MANUALLY input the total amountโ€ฆ listing it as Food, Canned $5.00 (even, for me being patient). And hereโ€™s the fun part โ€ฆ. The total amount came to $10,224.81! HAHAHAHAHA!
    He was SO SUPER PISSED and I really needed those 12 cans, so he walked over to the mark down bin and saw one item marked for $1.00 โ€“ rang 4 of them ($4.00 total). He ordered the Stocker to remove all those cans off the shelf immediately (I told him that there were only 2 of those left), and since it was right there around the corner, the Stocker checked and came back with 2 cans โ€“ The Store Manager then told the Supervisor to go put this on my desk. Then an entire rescan (of all my groceries) and then he gave me an additional $10.00 off!
    Then thereโ€™s this โ€œSweaterโ€ issue that was very well known, it would ring up automatically $32.99 โ€“ especially true if you had more than 30 items โ€“> All Cashiers were warned to scroll, double check, and remove โ€œSweaterโ€ off.
