treatments for breast cancer have led to permanent hair lossOne of the leading treatments for breast cancer, a drug known as Taxotere, has been connected with permanent hair loss. Many of the women who have chosen to file lawsuits after receiving these treatments for breast cancer allege that they were never informed about the dangers of permanent hair loss when receiving this treatment.

Undergoing chemotherapy often requires careful consideration of all the risks in comparison to the possible benefits. However, women who used Taxotere for their treatments for breast cancer say that they were never informed by anyone that Taxotere could lead to alopecia, or permanent hair loss.

Patients who go through chemotherapy often know in advance that short-term hair loss may result, but the completion of most breast cancer treatments means that women regrow their hair. Allegedly, however, that is not the case for many Taxotere users.

Many of the legal claims related to these treatments for breast cancer against the manufacturer of Taxotere have been consolidated into an MDL for the streamlined management of legal claims.

Taxotere Plaintiff Complaints

Women who underwent Taxotere treatments for breast cancer allege that they should have been told in advance by the manufacturer about the risk of permanent hair loss, and that the lack of information prevented them from making informed decisions about what was best for themselves.

One plaintiff, Maggie M., alleges that when making decisions about treatments for breast cancer, she was not informed that Taxotere had been connected to permanent hair loss. She received treatments for breast cancer with Taxotere from January 2008 through March 2008. She alleges in her treatment for breast cancer lawsuit that she lost hair on her head and lost her eyelashes.

She claims that she has suffered bald spots on the majority of her scalp and is still experiencing a severely receded hairline. Furthermore, she says her treatments for breast cancer left her suffering emotional injuries connected to that hair loss.

Her breast cancer treatment lawsuit is filed against Taxotere’s manufacturer, Sanofi-Aventis, based on allegations of negligent misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, fraud and deceit and failure to warn.

She is not alone. Many different patients have also come forward claiming that Sanofi-Aventis never informed them that these leading treatments for breast cancer were connected to the potential for permanent and life-changing hair loss.

Those women who have already suffered may have come through their cancer diagnosis and might be in remission, but many of them are still dealing with the physical and emotional after-effects of their cancer diagnosis.

Victims say their suffering was avoidable, and allege that the manufacturer knew about the risk of permanent hair loss but failed to disclose this to patients or the medical community.

If you or someone you know has received Taxotere treatments for breast cancer and suffered permanent hair loss, you could have grounds for legal compensation. This Treatments for Breast Cancer Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-07708-JTM-MBN, filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.
