low t class action lawsuitA testosterone product lawsuit was filed in December claiming Depo-Testosterone, a Pfizer product, caused an Indiana resident serious testosterone side effects. This testosterone product lawsuit is one of many lawsuits that have been consolidated in a testosterone MDL (multidistrict litigation).

Richard M., a 64-year-old man, began to use Depo-Testosterone after being influenced by Pfizer’s advertising, according to the testosterone product lawsuit. He was prescribed the testosterone injection, and on Dec. 18, 2012, he was hospitalized after experiencing “tightness across his chest and radiation of pain in his left arm with some mild shortness of breath.”

He was diagnosed with acute ventricular fibrillation arrest and ST elevation myocardial infarction. He had to undergo serious surgery in order to combat the alleged testosterone side effects, according to the Depo-Testosterone lawsuit.

The testosterone product lawsuit claims Richard suffered serious heart side effects, significant economic loss, and expensive medical expenses as a result of using Depo-Testosterone. The lawsuit alleges that had Pfizer clearly demonstrated the risks (both heart attack and stroke) associated with the low-t treatment, he never would have used Depo-Testosterone or at the very least would have monitored himself for testosterone side effects.

This testosterone product lawsuit is one of many lawsuits consolidated in the testosterone side effects MDL in California.

Testosterone Product Dangers

Depo-Testosterone can be used to treat low-t (low testosterone) levels in men and is given in an injection. Although Pfizer claimed that its testosterone injection is safe and effective, many men have developed serious testosterone side effects such as stroke or heart attack.

Several studies have supported the allegations that testosterone products can increase the risk of developing serious, potentially deadly side effects.

Many medical professionals believe that testosterone products are over-prescribed. Men may ask their doctor for a testosterone injection, cream, or gel prescription if they experience symptoms such as being “sad or grumpy,” “falling asleep after dinner,” or many other symptoms that are also representative of the aging process.

Testosterone product lawsuits have often alleged that drug manufacturers, such as Pfizer, are heavily promoting their testosterone products to a population that does not need low testosterone treatment and has needlessly put many men at risk for testosterone side effects.

This testosterone product lawsuit alleges that Pfizer told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it would only “market and sell” Depo-Testosterone to men who were diagnosed with low-t levels and that this statement was “a false representation that it made to the FDA in order to obtain approval of the drug.”

This Testosterone Side Effects MDL is In re: Testosterone Replacement Therapy, MDL No. 2545, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
