The Synchrony (GE Capital Retail Bank) class action settlement resolves allegations that the bank called consumers on their cell phones without their prior express consent in violation of federal law.
The plaintiffs claimed they suffered actual harm from receiving daily robocalls from Synchrony, in the form of fewer cell phone minutes and/or charges related to the unwanted calls.
Synchrony denied the allegations but agreed to pay $7 million to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation.
Class Members included all U.S. consumers “whose cellular telephone number, at any time on or after August 22, 2008 through June 16, 2016, Synchrony (or any of its agents or entities) called using an artificial or prerecorded voice and/or using any automatic telephone dialing system and where the person called was called regarding an account that did not belong to him or her and did not provide the number to Synchrony or is not a person who had consented to receiving calls at that cellular telephone number.”
The deadline to file a claim for the Synchrony class action settlement passed on Nov. 14, 2016.

This bank is fradulant. they closed my account for not using their credit card while paying off the balance. Then sent my account to collections. After approximately a year of more of not missing a payment via automatic deposit, the company stopped taking the funds out of my account and reported me to all the credit bureaus for non-payment emailed me that I wasn’t making payments and started my account over from the very beginning of the initial payment as though I’d never made a single payment causing my credit score to drop continuously. I do not recommend you get a credit credit with synchrony bank unless you want you credit ruined down the rwstbof tour life.
