RootStim and Ruahouine recall overview:

  • Who: RootStim and Ruahouine are recalling Minoxidil-based hair and beard growth serums.
  • Why: The products’ packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if ingested by children.
  • Where: The recalls are effective in the United States.

RootStim and Ruahouine have both issued recalls for Minoxidil-containing hair growth products after determining that their packaging fails to meet mandatory child-resistant standards.

The recalls were announced on Jan. 15, 2026, and together affect more than 40,000 units sold online through Amazon.com.

RootStim is recalling approximately 16,900 units of its Beard Growth Serum, 5% Minoxidil, sold from November 2024 through September 2025. The product comes in black spray bottles with orange and white lettering and an orange mustache icon.

Ruahouine is recalling approximately 25,000 bottles of its Hair Growth Serum sold between January 2025 and July 2025 for about $10 per bottle. The serum was sold in 60 ml transparent amber dropper bottles labeled “Ruahouine,” “Minoxidil Hair Growth Serum” and “5% Minoxidil With Biotin.”

Although the bottles include directions and warnings, they lack the required child-resistant features. “The serum’s packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children,” according to the Minoxidil recall notices.

The RootStim serum was manufactured by Ronghui Intelligent Manufacturing Technology (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. in China and distributed by RootStim LLC of Lanham, Maryland.

Consumers urged to secure bottles out of sight and reach of children

Consumers are advised to immediately secure the product out of sight and reach of children and to contact RootStim for a replacement bottle that meets child-resistant standards. The company instructs consumers to discard the original bottle after receiving the replacement.

Ruahouine is offering refunds or replacements and asks customers to pour the serum into the trash, photograph the bottle in the trash and email the image to [email protected] to receive further instructions.

For more information, consumers can contact RootStim at 202-743-1714 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or via email at [email protected], or visit https://rootstim.com and click “Contact Us”. Ruahouine can be reached by email at [email protected].

Both companies report that no injuries or incidents have been linked to the recalled products so far. Neither RootStim nor Ruahouine is currently facing legal action related to the recalls, though Top Class Actions continues to monitor product recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
