Rava car seat recall overview:

  • Who: Nuna Baby Essentials issued a recall for more than 600,000 Nuna Rava car seats.
  • Why: The company initiated the recall over concerns the car seats’ harnesses could loosen if debris enters the front harness adjuster.
  • Where: The Nuna recall affects consumers nationwide.

Nuna Baby Essentials issued a recall for more than 600,000 of its Nuna Rava car seats over concerns their harness could loosen.

The recall involves Nuna Rava CS-50, CS05101, CS05103, CS05104, CS05105, CS05106, CS05107, CS05109, CS05110, CS05111, CS05114 and CS05115 car seat models.

Nuna says a loose harness could injure a child during a vehicle accident.

“If a child restraint harness is not tight in a crash, the child could be injured,” the recall notice says.

Nuna to provide new Rava car seat seat pad to affected owners

Nuna attributes the issue to debris entering the area where the front harness adjuster is located, causing the teeth of the adjuster mechanism to no longer properly clamp onto the adjuster strap, according to the recall notice.

Affected car seat owners can identify the problem by checking to see if the harness does not remain tight when placing a child in the car seat, according to the recall.

Nuna says it plans to fix the issue by providing consumers with a free remedy kit that contains a new seat pad and instructions on properly cleaning the harness adjuster area.

Last year, a New Jersey federal judge dismissed a class action lawsuit claiming Graco Children’s Products sold car seats with a shorter lifespan than advertised.
