- Where: The recall is active in the United States and Canada.
Pura Scents has issued a recall for more than 851,000 diffuser covers on Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers due to a potential magnet ingestion hazard.
The recall affects 851,400 units sold in the United States and an additional 1,100 in Canada. The issue arises from magnets on the covers that may detach, posing a serious risk if swallowed by children.
The recall, announced on July 24, involves the detachable covers of the Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers, which are approximately 4 inches in both width and length. The covers contain five magnets — three small and two larger ones — that can become dislodged.
This defect could lead to severe health risks if the magnets are ingested, such as intestinal perforations, blockages or even death, according to the recall notice.
The Pura 4 diffusers were available for purchase at major retailers like Target and Scheels, as well as online platforms like Amazon and Pura’s own website, from August 2023 to May 2025. The products were priced at approximately $50.
Pura Scents has received three reports of magnets detaching, though no injuries have been reported so far.
