Invega-Injury-Lawsuit

Young patients and their parents across the country are complaining of serious Invega side effects, alleging male breast growth and type-2 diabetes.

Some of the most serious Invega side effects reported include severe changes in blood sugar and weight in patients, as well as young boys developing gynecomastia.

Invega (paliperidone) is a powerful antipyschotic, which is typically prescribed to treat a variety of mental disorders like schizophrenia in adult and adolescent patients.

Approved by the FDA in December 2006, this medication improves mood and mental stability by balancing serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain.

Invega is a metabolite of its predecessor Risperdal (risperidone), which means it consists of the chemicals remaining after the liver breaks down the drug to its active ingredients.

As the most important metabolite of Risperdal, Invega has the same psychological treatment mechanism but is metabolized differently.

While this medication has helped numerous patients, serious Invega side effects involving chronic health problems and psychological trauma have been alleged.

Overview of Serious Invega Side effects

When Invega is metabolized, it naturally interacts with the pituitary gland and signals the body to manufacture an increased amount of the prolactin hormone. Prolactin is primarily responsible for breast development in young girls and naturally occurs in small amounts in young boys.

The interference from this drug causes a larger amount of prolactin to produced, causing chronic health problems in young patients.

With Invega, the pituitary gland can develop tumors and chronic problems with hormone regulation. Serious Invega side effects have included gynecomastia (male breast growth) and glactorrhea (lactation in girls).

Young boys have reported male breasts as big as D cups, often requiring surgery to remove the excess tissue. In addition, young patients who experience these serious Invega side effects often have to undergo psychological therapy due to the trauma of this affliction.

In addition, young patients have also reportedly developed type-2 diabetes in some cases due to the severe weight gain and change in blood sugar levels.

Even though these serious Invega side effects can have long term negative impact on patients, Johnson & Johnson allegedly failed to warn patients against them.

Numerous Invega lawsuits have been filed against the company, alleging the company omitted this information to insure strong profit margins.

Patients who claim to have experienced these serious Invega side effects may be able to file legal action against Johnson & Johnson. Potential claimants should contact a specialized lawyer to determine eligibility.
