Invega-injuryYoung male patients across the country are reporting serious Invega injur after reportedly developing gynecomastia, or male breast growth. This antipsychotic medication allegedly causes abnormal breast tissue to develop in young male patients going through puberty, when their hormone levels are increasing.

Even though Invega injury has been linked to other serious side effects, the manufacturing company allegedly failed to disclose this information. Manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, Invega was approved by the FDA in 2006 to treat patients with extreme mental disorders like schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.

This medication was approved around the same time its predecessor, Risperdal, was approved to treat children with certain mental disorders including symptoms related to autism. Risperdal and Invega are composed of the same core ingredient paliperidone, but are metabolized differently.

It is important to note that Invega is a metabolite of Risperdal, which means that it is the ingredient remaining after the body metabolizes the medication. Both these medications work by balancing the brain’s dopamine level, which is supposed to produce ideal mood balance.

However, it is this very treatment process that has allegedly caused numerous reports of Invega injury. While the medical community does not definitively know what may be causing this, it is believed to be linked with how the body metabolizes the medication and how it affects the body’s pituitary gland.

Overview of Potential Invega Injury Causation

Risperdal and Invega both increase levels of prolactin, which is the hormone primarily responsible for breast development in young girls and is manufactured in the pituitary gland. Risperdal and Invega injury may cause a significant increase in prolactin production, which can potentially result in male breast growth for young male patients.

This may also cause the development of benign pituitary tumors, which become medical annoyances. Along with abnormal growth of breast tissue, serious increase in weight is also associated with gynecomastia.

There have been injury reports indicating man boobs as large as D-cups, with the most serious reports indicating lactation and nipple pain. Often, patients have to undergo surgery to remove the excess breast tissue, and are left with the emotional scars of having man boobs.

It is important to note that even though Risperdal was not approved to treat children until 2006, its manufacturer was accused of unlawfully advertising it for use in children beginning when the drug was first released in 1993. Even though Invega was approved after Risperdal gained pediatric clearance, the medical community was still worried that Invega injury could incur similar side effects.

Reports of Invega injury are sometimes linked with severe weight gain and serious changes in blood sugar levels that may develop into type-2 diabetes. Due to the significant change in weight, the level of insulin and blood sugar changes and may cause type-2 diabetes to occur.

Even though these potential complications can be devastating to patients, Johnson & Johnson allegedly failed to warn the public against Invega injury. Many former patients have stated they would not have used the medication if they were properly made aware of the complications associated with Invega injury.
