Old Spice deodorant has been around for decades, and it is so common, many of us remember a characteristic Old Spice smell of a grandparent, uncle, parent or sibling.
Developed in 1938 around a nautical theme, Old Spice for men’s colonial sailing ships that have become synonymous with the brand.
However, a new development has been associated with Old Spice deodorant lately — a deodorant rash experienced by many men. We will take a look at some reviews posted by users that address this very issue.
Old Spice Deodorant Reviews
A visit to the Consumer Affairs website shows that Old Spice deodorant received a 1.1 star rating out of a total of five stars.
The number of reviews on the product complete with deodorant rash photos are quite astonishing. Many reports come from long-time users of the product who suddenly developed a deodorant rash resembling chemical burns.
Some of the reports from the consumer reviews website state:
“My husband has used Old Spice deodorant for many many years with no problem. That was until the last stick he bought and developed this horribly painful rash. We won’t be buying Old Spice anymore!” – Erin of Sparta, Tenn.
“My 15 year old son had a severe reaction to the high endurance Fresh stick deodorant. It’s a large dark red burning painful ring in his armpits. After telling others about it, we are finding that this is pretty common. This stuff shouldn’t be in stores anymore.” – Jean of Observatory, Penn.
“After 3 to 4 days of use of this Old Spice High Endurance product, my underarms are severely burned. My skin is red and purple. Very irritated, I went to emergency and was placed on two antibiotics, and a steroid. I have a discharge creating cracks, and more irritation under my arms due to moisture. It is hard to work, having move my arms up and down and side to side. Whatever scab attempts, my skin breaks and is making the healing process difficult.” – Kevin of Charlotte, NC
“In January, I purchased Old Spice deodorant and, like many others, developed a painful rash/redness in my underarm. It last a couple of weeks until I visited my doctor, who had to prescribe a medication to alleviate the rash. I have been a long time user of Old Spice, but won’t be buying their product anytime in the foreseeable future.” – Art of Webster, NY
“Had burning in my armpits which I did not know what was causing it. It would burn, skin crack and turn skin red. I put triple ointment cream on it and it would take a week for it to heal. This happened twice, then I saw on Facebook a guy who had this happen to him but a lot worse. At that point I threw away all my Old Spice deodorant. Told my wife not to buy Old Spice anymore. I have not had any burns or problems since.” George of Oklahoma City, OK
