Netflix class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Ronald Denton filed a class action lawsuit against Netflix Inc.
- Why: Denton claims Netflix customers were not able to view the full Jake Paul and Mike Tyson Nov. 15 boxing match due to streaming issues.
- Where: The Netflix streaming issues class action lawsuit was filed in the 13th Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County, Florida.
Consumers who tuned in to watch Jake Paul fight Mike Tyson in a boxing match on Netflix this month missed large portions or the entirety of the fight due to streaming glitches and buffering issues, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Ronald Denton’s class action lawsuit claims tens of thousands of Netflix users reported issues with accessing the streaming service during the Nov. 15 fight.
“Boxing fans, along with the average Americans wanting to see a legend in what would most likely be his last fight, were faced with legendary problems, including no access, streaming glitches and buffering issues,” the Netflix class action says.
Denton wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers who are current Netflix customers and either had their access to the Paul and Tyson fight Nov. 15 diminished due to buffering issues or blocked completely.
The class action lawsuit also seeks to represent a subclass of Florida consumers who were charged the entirety of their Netflix bill despite “not receiving the live streaming services they paid for.”
Netflix streaming issues made Tyson-Paul fight ‘unwatchable,’ class action claims
Denton argues the Paul and Tyson fight was “unwatchable” for most viewers, both angering and disappointing Netflix subscribers who pay between $6.99 to $22.99 a month for the streaming service.
“Instead of providing the programming its viewers pay for every month, Netflix was completely unprepared and unable to ‘fix’ the issues,” the Netflix class action says.
Denton claims Netflix is guilty of breach of contract and violating Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests injunctive relief and an award of actual, nominal and consequential damages for himself and all class members.
A consumer filed a separate class action lawsuit against Paramount Global earlier this month over claims the streaming service discloses the data of its viewers with third parties without consent to do so.

Please add me
I was unable to watch the fight because of the bad buffering. I also called to have Netflix removed from my account. I still to today can’t get no one to talk to me. I had my account to rebuke those charges since November. I would not have gotten Netflix if it had not been for the Tyson/Paul fight. If Netflix notice I have not used it at all. I was a Payday for Netflix.

I was unable to watch the fight as well.
It was so infuriating trying to watch all the fights. It was just horrible it would play and stop. They were not prepared for that LG of a streaming.
