Moonlight Companies has initiated a recall of its California-grown conventional white and yellow peaches due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recall affects Moonlight Peaches sold nationwide from Sept. 16 to Oct. 29, 2025, as individual pieces with PLU stickers or in multipacks. Notably, the recall excludes packages or PLU stickers labeled “Washington” or “Organic.”
The recall was announced on Oct. 29 and subsequently published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Oct. 30. The peaches in question are identified by specific PLU sticker numbers, UPC codes and lot codes, which are detailed in the recall notice. They include Moonlight White Peaches, Moonlight Yellow Peaches and Kroger Yellow Peaches.
The contamination was detected in the packing facility environment, prompting the voluntary recall by Moonlight Companies. “This recall is being conducted because Listeria monocytogenes was identified in the packing facility environment,” the recall states.
Consumers advised to discard or return affected peaches
Consumers are urged to discontinue use of the recalled Moonlight and Kroger Peaches and either return them to the place of purchase or dispose of them.
“Consumers who have this product should discontinue use immediately and return it to the place of purchase or discard it,” the Moonlight Peaches and Kroger recall notice says.
Moonlight Companies is actively working with the FDA to manage the recall process and ensure consumer safety. The company has provided a contact number for consumers seeking more information about the recall: 855-215-5017, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
Moonlight Companies reports that no illnesses have been linked to the recalled peaches so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Earlier, Kroger faced a class action lawsuit accusing the company of failing to disclose the presence of heavy metals in its Basmati rice.
