Winston Products has announced a recall of about 3.6 million HydroTech 5/8-inch Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses due to potential safety hazards. The hoses, which can burst unexpectedly, pose an impact hazard and may cause temporary hearing impairment.

The hose recall, issued on July 24, affects hoses manufactured on or before August 31, 2024. The recalled products were available in various lengths ranging from 25 to 200 feet and came in multiple colors, including blue, green, orange, yellow, red and gray.

The hoses were sold at major retailers, such as Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Walmart, as well as online from January 2021 through April 2025.

According to the recall notice, “the recalled hoses can burst, posing an impact hazard and a risk of temporarily impaired hearing.”

Winston Products has received 222 reports of bursting hoses, leading to 29 injuries, including bone bruises, sprains and hearing impairments.

Consumers advised to stop using HydroTech hoses immediately

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled HydroTech hoses immediately. Those who purchased the hoses from Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Home Depot or Walmart can return them to the store for a full refund.

For hoses bought from other retailers, consumers should cut off the regulator end and contact Winston Products for a refund by submitting photos of the cut hose with the date code and their initials marked on it.

Winston Products is actively addressing the issue by offering full refunds to affected customers. They have set up a dedicated recall information page on their website, where consumers can find detailed instructions on how to proceed with the refund process.

For more information about the recall, consumers can contact Winston Products toll-free at 888-412-2396 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Alternatively, they can email [email protected] for further details.

Winston Products says it has received reports of 29 injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

My experience with the hose was it exploded at the male end causing me to suffer an injury when it happened. I just put the broken hose in the garbage can for trash pick up. Hose turned out to be a POS.
