Louis Vuitton has disclosed a data breach impacting more than 419,000 customers across several countries, including the United States.

The data breach, initially identified on June 7, 2025, involved unauthorized access to a database containing personal information, such as names, contact details and government ID numbers. Importantly, no payment information was compromised in this incident.

The breach was announced on July 2, 2025, after Louis Vuitton engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.

The company has since notified law enforcement and is taking measures to enhance its data security protocols. “The incident has been contained,” Louis Vuitton stated, emphasizing its commitment to protecting customer data.

Louis Vuitton may have violated statutes in certain U.S. states

The Louis Vuitton data breach has sparked legal scrutiny, particularly in the United States, where delayed notifications to affected individuals may have violated state data breach statutes.

Legal experts highlight that states like Texas and Washington require disclosure within 30 days, a deadline Louis Vuitton missed by over two months. This delay could expose the company to regulatory action and potential class litigation.

Louis Vuitton is offering affected customers a 24-month membership to Experian IdentityWorks, which includes credit monitoring, fraud resolution services and identity theft insurance.

Customers are encouraged to remain vigilant against suspicious communications and can activate their membership by visiting the Experian IdentityWorks website.

For more information, customers can contact Louis Vuitton at 1-866-566-3598 for support with enrollment in the Experian IdentityWorks monitoring service. In case of any incident of identity theft or fraud, consumers can visit https://www.identitytheft.gov for information on what to do.

Louis Vuitton says it has not received any reports of identity theft or fraud related to the breach so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the data breach, but Top Class Actions follows data breaches closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Another top fashion brand, Christian Dior, was hit with several class action lawsuits recently for allegedly failing to adequately secure customers’ personal information in a data breach.

If you received a data breach letter within the past six months notifying you that your personal information was compromised in a different data breach, you may be eligible to pursue compensation. See if you qualify
