Does your bathroom use an Aqua-Flo toilet connector as a water supply line to the tank?
LSP Products makes and sells Aqua-Flo, MightyFlex and DiamondBack water connectors that allegedly contain defects that allow leaks, sometimes resulting in significant water damage, according to multiple consumers.
According to LSP’s website, “Aqua-Flo has been part of the LSP family for over 20 years. As the innovation and quality standard bearer in water connectors and valves, Aqua-Flo’s performance and durability is unmatched in the market place.”
Unfortunately, consumers have reported problems with the Aqua-Flo toilet connector, including allegations the braided water lines are defective because water can leak through the braiding. In other instances, consumers say the plastic coupling nut fails, the brass coupling nut breaks or the braided hose bursts.
Water damage from a failed Aqua-Flo toilet connector can cost thousands of dollars for a homeowner to repair. Even if homeowners insurance covers the incident, you need to pay the deductible first. Some homeowners lament that one-of-a-kind family heirlooms that are ruined by water damage simply cannot be replaced.
A leaking Aqua-Flo toilet connector is not something that can be anticipated. It’s not like a hurricane that you know is coming; the Aqua-Flo toilet connector can leak or break without warning.
Why Would Aqua-Flo Toilet Connector Leak?
The Aqua-Flo toilet connector is touted as a state-of-the-art, tough product, so why would it leak or break?
The stainless steel braiding should not corrode, but continuous exposure to chlorinated water or cleaning products possibly corrode and weaken the braiding, according to PuroClean’s website. PuroClean is a water damage restoration company not affiliated with LSP Products or with Aqua-Flo.
Sometimes the plastic coupling nut at one end can dry out and crack, depending upon the type of plastic compounds used in creating the nut. The brass coupling nut can fail, as well, possibly due to poor design or poor molding.
PuroClean indicates normal water pressure in a home measures between 70 to 80 pounds per inch. If an Aqua-Flo toilet connector breaks in a home with that level of water pressure, the home can flood at the rate of three to five gallons of water per minute.
LSP Products sells Aqua-Flo braided supply lines that connect a home’s hot or cold water supply or supply water to the bathroom fixtures, toilets, kitchen faucets, refrigerator ice makers and dishwashers.
Consumers allege they’ve had experiences of these braided hoses failing long before they reasonably should. The hoses and the coupling nuts should be made to stand up to the normal water pressure of the average home.
If your Aqua-Flo toilet connector or any other Aqua-Flo water connector has leaked or burst and caused damage to your home, you could be eligible for compensation through legal representation.
