Kroger and Albertsons Companies has announced a voluntary recall of certain deli items containing bowtie pasta due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The recall affects products supplied by Fresh Creative Foods, which sourced the pasta from Nate’s Fine Foods in Roseville, California. The recall was initiated on Oct. 1, 2025, and was published by the FDA on Oct. 2, 2025.
The affected products include various bowtie pasta salads and meals sold under multiple brand names at Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and other affiliated stores across several states.
The products were available for purchase between Sept. 8 and Oct. 4, 2025. The contamination risk arises from a recalled pasta ingredient, prompting Albertsons to act swiftly to prevent potential health risks.
“Consumers who have purchased these items are urged not to consume these products and to dispose of them or return the items to their local store for a full refund,” the Kroger recall notice says.
Kroger recall highlights warning signs of Listeria contamination
Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may experience mild symptoms, the infection can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
The FDA advises consumers to clean and sanitize surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled products to prevent cross-contamination.
Albertsons has taken measures to remove the affected products from store shelves and is offering refunds to customers who return the items. The company has not reported any illnesses linked to the recalled products so far.
Customers seeking more information about the recall can contact Albertsons Companies’ Customer Service Center at 1-877-723-3929, available Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. PST.
The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In related news, Walmart issued a recall notice Sept. 25 for its Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce due to potential listeria contamination.
