Kawasaki 2025 motorcycles recall overview:

  • Why: The recall is due to a potential failure of the primary gear for the crank shaft, which poses a motorcycle crash hazard.
  • Where: The Kawasaki motorcycle recall is effective in the United States.

Kawasaki has issued a recall for approximately 3,400 units of its 2025 KX series motorcycles due to a defect in the crank shaft’s primary gear that could fail and pose a crash hazard.

The Kawasaki recall, announced on April 24, affects the 2025 KX450, KX450SR and KX450X models, which are lime green motorcycles built for competition and cross-country riding.

The affected models can be identified by specific model numbers and vehicle identification numbers (VIN) located on the right side of the vehicle and frame head pipe, respectively.

According to the recall, the primary gear’s failure could lead to a crash, although no incidents or injuries have been reported so far.

“The primary gear for the crank shaft can fail, posing a crash hazard,” the recall notice states.

Kawasaki advises consumers to stop using the recalled motorcycles immediately and contact an authorized Kawasaki dealer for a free repair, which involves replacing the faulty gear.

The motorcycles were sold at authorized Kawasaki dealers nationwide from June 2024 through March 2025, with prices ranging from $10,500 to $13,600.

Kawasaki is taking proactive steps to rectify the issue by offering free repairs to affected customers.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled competition and cross-country motorcycles and contact a Kawasaki dealer for a free repair,” the recall notice advises.

The recall notice provides detailed instructions for consumers to follow, ensuring that the necessary repairs are conducted efficiently and effectively.

The repair will be conducted at authorized Kawasaki dealerships, where the primary gear will be replaced with a new one to ensure the motorcycles’ safety and functionality.

Kawasaki has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In January, Kawasaki issued a recall for about 39,000 John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with Kawasaki engines over concerns their engine can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.
