A new class action lawsuit claims JPMorgan Chase fraudulently induced consumers to purchase credit card memberships and charge specified purchases on the company-issued credit card.
Plaintiff John Sacchi filed the class action complaint against JPMorgan Chase Bank and JPMorgan Chase & Co. on Sept. 12 in New York federal court, alleging violations of state and federal consumer laws.
According to the lawsuit, JPMorgan Chase fraudulently solicited consumers to purchase credit card memberships by promising automatic credits for certain purchases but then failed to provide those credits.
The plaintiff alleges that this practice is part of a systematic plan by the company to induce consumers to pay for Chase credit card memberships and make specific purchases, only to deny them the promised credits.
JPMorgan Chase allegedly failed to provide promised credits
Sacchi claims he was solicited by JPMorgan Chase in the summer of 2025 to purchase a one-year credit card membership for $750.
The company allegedly promised automatic credits for purchases at specified restaurants and for online music services, which Sacchi relied upon when he applied for the card and made qualifying purchases.
However, Sacchi alleges that JPMorgan Chase failed to reimburse the specified charges, forcing him to pay them as part of his credit card monthly statement to avoid interest, late fees and penalties.
The lawsuit claims that JPMorgan Chase has a history of similar fraudulent practices, as evidenced by complaints from other consumers and previous lawsuits.
Sacchi is looking to represent anyone who made one or more charges on a JPMorgan Chase-issued credit card in the United States for products and/or services, which charge(s) was/were required to be automatically credited pursuant to the company’s promises but was/were not.
The plaintiff is seeking certification of the class action, damages, fees, costs and a jury trial.
In 2024, a JPMorgan Chase employee sued the company, alleging labor law violations, including failure to provide meal and rest breaks.
