Jaguar is recalling almost 21,000 Range Rover Evoque SUVs due to a defect in the passenger airbag that could pose a safety risk.
The airbags, which may tear upon deployment, could allow hot gases to escape, increasing the risk of burn injuries. This Jaguar Land Rover airbag recall is crucial for ensuring passenger safety.
The recall, announced July 7, by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on July 7, 2025, affects 2021 to 2025 model year Range Rover Evoque vehicles.
The issue was identified after a months-long investigation by Jaguar Land Rover, which discovered inconsistencies in the folding of the airbags during assembly. These airbags were manufactured by Joyson Safety Systems Hungary, a prominent supplier in the automotive industry.
“A torn air bag may not adequately protect an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury,” the recall says.
The affected vehicles were produced between July 10, 2020, and October 7, 2024, at Jaguar’s Halewood plant in the United Kingdom.
Jaguar Land Rover addresses airbag safety concerns
The recall notice emphasizes the potential danger posed by the defective airbags, which could fail to protect passengers during a crash.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting August 29, 2025. Jaguar Land Rover has assured customers that dealers will replace the faulty airbag modules free of charge.
Customers who have already paid for repairs may be eligible for reimbursement. Owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is affected by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA recall website or Jaguar Land Rover’s official portal.
Jaguar Land Rover is replacing the defective airbag modules at no cost to the owners.
