IKEA is recalling its 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic presses because small metal fragments can detach, posing risks of cuts and ingestion.

The recall, announced on July 31, affects about 43,830 units sold in the United States and 10,700 in Canada. The recalled garlic presses, featuring a black rubber handle and a zinc-coated chamber, were available at IKEA stores nationwide and online from March 2024 through May 2025, retailing for approximately $8.

The recall specifically targets models with the IKEA logo on the upper part of the handle, according to the recall notice.

“Small metal pieces can detach from the garlic press, posing a laceration or ingestion hazard to consumers,” the recall says.

IKEA has received 10 reports of incidents worldwide, including three involving lacerations and finger splinters. However, no injuries have been reported in the United States.

Consumers urged to stop using recalled IKEA garlic presses

The recall notice advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled garlic presses and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund.

If returning to a store is not feasible, customers can contact IKEA for disposal instructions to receive a refund, with no proof of purchase required.

IKEA is actively addressing the issue by offering full refunds to affected consumers. The company has set up a toll-free line at 888-966-4532, available from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, for further assistance. Consumers can also visit IKEA’s website for more information on the recall.

IKEA is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In 2024, a consumer sued IKEA, alleging the company misrepresented the materials used in its Hemnes and Brimnes daybeds.
