Husqvarna grass trimmers class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Plaintiff Robin Allen filed a class action lawsuit against Husqvarna Professional Products Inc.
- Why: Allen claims Husqvarna is refusing to reimburse consumers who purchased its recalled gas-powered grass trimmers.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in North Carolina federal court.
A new class action lawsuit alleges that outdoor power equipment company Husqvarna refuses to reimburse consumers for their purchase of its allegedly defective gas-powered grass trimmers.
Plaintiff Robin Allen claims Husqvarna recently told consumers to “immediately stop using” certain Husqvarna grass trimmers, following reports of fire and at least one injury caused by their allegedly defective nature.
In spite of this, Husqvarna refuses to reimburse consumers who purchased the grass trimmers, Allen argues in the Husqvarna class action; she claims the tree trimmers have in fact been rendered “a big worthless piece of metal junk.”
“Defendant will not give customers their money back for these defective products,” the Husqvarna class action says.
Allen wants to represent a nationwide class, New York class and multistate consumer protection class of consumers who purchased a recalled Husqvarna gas-powered grass trimmer within the applicable statute of limitations period.
Husqvarna did ‘bare minimum’ to notify consumers about grass trimmers recall, class action says
Allen argues Husqvarna denies any requests for a refund for the recalled gas-powered grass trimmers and, instead, offers a repair option that is “useless” to anyone who either no longer owns the product or lives in a rural area that is far from an authorized dealer.
Further, Allen claims Husqvarna did little to publicize the recall announcement, something she argues was done in order to minimize the “cost and burden” of the recall.
“An offer to repair the products does little good when Defendant does the bare minimum possible to let people know about the offer,” the Husqvarna class action says.
Allen claims Husqvarna is guilty of breach of implied warranty and unjust enrichment and of violating the New York Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of statutory and punitive damages for herself and all class members.
Husqvarna initiated the gas-powered tree trimmer recall in February. The recall involved three models of more than 420,000 tree trimmers sold at Husqvarna dealers, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, other home and garden stores and on Amazon.com from October 2021 to November 2023 from between $250 and $300.

Please add me. I obtained 3/4 degree burns from the gas trimmer
Please add me to the class action lawsuit. In November 2023 I bought 5 Husqvarna 130C Gas String trimmers to resell on eBay. Then in November 2024 eBay removed my listing, saying the items has been recalled. This was the first I heard of the recall. Neither lowes (the place I bought it from) or Husqvarna ever reached out to me. I contacted Husqvarna. They created a ticket and said someone would reach out to me, but never did. I want a refund because I can’t resell the items, and if I get it repaired the resell value will plummet – I can no longer sell these items as “new”, I would have to sell as “used”, even though they’ve never been used. I can’t do anything with the recalled items I have – I can’t resell them, can’t donate them, I can only throw them away which I feel is unacceptable – it’s not my fault they sold a faulty product. I just want a full refund.
Yes, please add me.I have brought two of these hedges trimmers in my storage area, this is the first time I heard this.
I have 4 of these trimmers now and have had to spend many dollars on trying to get the kinks out of them

I actually bought 2 of these trimmers because of years of trust with the brand but now that trust has been broken
