It appears, however, that whether a filtration system merely tackles the taste factor of a consumer’s drinking water supply or assists with water softening, buying a home system is trickier than it seems. As an example, homeowners are allegedly incurring property damage stemming from Aquasana filter leaking.

The A.O. Smith Company successfully purchased Aquasana Inc. in the late summer of 2016. The water filtration company now operates under the parentage of this corporation.

Aquasana’s products are varied and include residential domestic whole house water filtration systems, house systems that merely address water mineral content to soften water, shower filters, drinking water filters to improve taste, foodservice business water filtration systems, stand-alone water servers with bottles of filtered drinking water, replacement water filters and other accessories.

Among these choices, the company’s reverse osmosis water filter, typically installed underneath the kitchen sink with an outlet near the faucet for drinking water, has been implicated in cases of Aquasana filter leaking related to repeat failure of locking tabs that hold the filter unit in place.

The Aquasana filter leaking has led to alleged instances of damaged flooring, countertops, and other structures, as evidenced by a random look of reviews from the Consumer Reports website.

Supposedly, several consumers have invested in the reverse osmosis system more than once and, even after a design update to the tabs, had a repeat experience of their Aquasana filter leaking leading to property damage.

The locking tabs, purportedly the cause of Aquasana filter leaking, are subject to cracking which grows because of differences in water pressure. These pressure differences are part and parcel of a house water delivery system and should be expected when manufacturing a product that adds on to that system.

Several consumers have complained to Aquasana Inc. regarding this repeated situation. But aside from the redesign, there have been no corporate efforts to recall the product from the marketplace.

According to one complaint listed on the Home Depot website, a consumer has complained on numerous occasions and sought to get his money back for the product and damages. There has been no response from the company, the consumer says.

There is a growing investigation of this and other complaints regarding the reverse osmosis system and Aquasana filter leaking to hold the company accountable for this purported defective design.

Many feel that the company clearly knows of the defect and allege that the corporation has breached its expressed and implied warranties under federal and state product liability laws.

While the filter retails at less than $300 in most places, the damage to the home from the faulty tabs can range in the thousands—depending upon how long water flows before a given leakage from the homeowner is discovered.

If you or someone you know has had such property damage after installing an under-the-counter water filter from Aquasana, you may qualify to joint a free Aquasana class action lawsuit investigation.
