A new lawsuit filed against C.R. Bard alleges a patient suffered from hernia mesh infection symptoms. Hernia mesh infection symptoms, according to the lawsuit, are not properly explained to recipients of the hernia mesh device developed by C.R. Bard, meaning that patients are at risk of not understanding how to best protect themselves or identify when these symptoms have emerged.
In her hernia mesh infection symptoms lawsuit, plaintiff Carolyn A. alleges that the manufacturer is responsible for failing to warn recipients of the hernia mesh that they could ultimately develop a severe and significant infection.
The hernia mesh infection symptoms lawsuit says that Carolyn has suffered serious pain and permanent injuries in addition to lost earning capacity and wages, emotional distress and diminished quality of life as a result of the defective hernia mesh she received.
The plaintiff said that she expected the hernia mesh to help her with her existing medical conditions but later discovered the development of hernia mesh infection symptoms that put her overall health at risk.
Hernia Mesh Use
In 2011, Carolyn says she underwent an incisional hernia repair surgery in Kansas. She received a Bard hernia mesh implant during this repair surgery.
In July 2013, however, the plaintiff had to undergo removal of the allegedly defective hernia mesh implant, and it is noted in the lawsuit that the doctors discovered poorly incorporated mesh as well as problems with adhesion.
The revised mesh was unable to be replaced due to the high levels of infection at that time, Carolyn says. In July 2016, an open surgery was scheduled for the plaintiff to fix an unrepaired hernia with a biologic mesh product.
According to the hernia mesh infection symptoms lawsuit, the plaintiff continues to suffer chronic pain and permanent disfigurement.
Complications with Hernia Mesh Product
The hernia mesh involved in this lawsuit has multiple layers of polypropylene mesh that is made alongside an absorbable hydrogel barrier.
According to the hernia mesh infection symptoms lawsuit, the mesh material for this patient and for many others is biologically incompatible and can cause a broad range of serious side effects, including the development of an infection. This can trigger an immune response inside the patient’s body, leading to the contraction and degradation of the polypropylene mesh which can damage surrounding tissue.
Ultimately, the body can develop severe and painful adverse reactions associated with the mesh. According to Carolyn’s hernia mesh infection symptoms lawsuit, the defendants knew or should have known about these dangerous side effects and failed to warn possible recipients of the mesh about the dangers they could face.
Those patients who experienced unnecessary pain and suffering might be eligible to pursue lawsuits with the help of an experienced lawyer.
The Hernia Mesh Infection Symptoms Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-CD-11192, filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
