A new class action lawsuit claims insurance company Globe Life Inc. failed to safeguard sensitive customer information from a data breach that affected more than 850,000 individuals.
Plaintiff Denia Elizarraras filed the class action complaint against Globe Life on March 3 in Texas federal court. She alleges Globe Life neglected to prevent a data breach that resulted in unauthorized access to its information systems and the exposure of its customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, health data and other policy information.
Elizarraras alleges Globe Life used inadequate data security measures, including failing to encrypt customer information and not deleting data when it was no longer needed.
In addition, Elizarraras says the company failed to notify its customers about the data breach that it discovered around June 13, 2024.
According to the lawsuit, Globe Life initially filed a notice of the breach with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in October 2024, stating that over 5,000 customers’ data was exposed.
However, in January, Globe Life filed another notice stating that more than 850,000 customers’ information had been breached. Customers were not informed of the breach at all, Elizarraras claims, saying she found out about it through a news report.
Globe Life put its customers at risk, class action claims
Elizarraras wants to represent a nationwide class and California subclass of consumers who purchased life insurance policies from Globe Life and had their private information accessed or acquired by an unauthorized party in the data breach.
“Plaintiff and Class Members now face a lifetime risk of identity theft due to the nature of the information lost, which they cannot change, and which cannot be made private again,” the Globe Life class action says.
Elizarraras claims Globe Life is guilty of negligence, negligence per se, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of implied contract and also violated California’s Consumer Privacy Act and Consumer Records Act.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and requests declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of actual and statutory damages of up to $750 per customer per incident for herself and all class members.
In 2024, the executives and directors of Globe Life were hit with a lawsuit alleging they ignored a workplace culture of sexual harassment and consistently reported artificially inflated profitability metrics for at least four years.

45 thoughts onGlobe Life faces class action lawsuit over 2024 data breach
On Aug 26th, I received mail to my home from Globe Life with my name on the front of the envelope which I opened in assuming it was regarding my policies with them. However, inside the envelope was another policyholder’s complete information, including their Social Security number. I reached out to Globe Life’s Privacy team to make them aware of this serious breach of privacy and security. If I have received another customer’s personal information, I am now extremely concerned that my own information has been sent to someone else. Today is 09/25/2025 – meaning tomorrow will mark 30 days since this happened, since then I have filed a formal complaint with my states DOI, and only heard from the marketing team with Globe Life who I acquired my policies with who have stated they have not had any update on what may have happened from Corporate in Texas.
Never received notice concerning a data breach.
Please add me to this
I have been a Globe Life member for many years. Please add me to the class action.
I have 5 insurance policies thru them. I want to be apart of this lawsuit.
August 2019 i have four insurance policies
I had a policy through Globe Life and this is the first I hear of a breach. However, it does explain why my payment suddenly were not recorded by accounts receivable at Globe causing an irreconcilable accounting and subsequent loss of the policy. My policy with another insurance company continue without problems. These two policies were the first payments made every month not only on time but early.
I have been a globe life customer for over 5 years and did not receive a notice from them.
