Gerber recall overview: 

  • Who: Gerber Products Co. issued a recall for all batches of its Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks. 
  • Why: The Gerber recall was initiated over concerns the recalled teething sticks could pose a potential choking hazard for babies and young children. 
  • Where: The recalled Gerber teething sticks were sold nationwide online and distributed to distribution centers and retail stores in most U.S. states and Puerto Rico. 

Gerber Products Co. is recalling all batches of its Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks over concerns they could pose a potential choking hazard for babies and young children. 

The company, which said it is also discontinuing the recalled teething sticks, said it initiated the teething stick recall after receiving consumer complaints of choking incidents, including one requiring a visit to the emergency room. 

The recall involves Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks distributed nationwide via online and to distribution centers and retail stores in nearly all U.S. states and Puerto Rico. 

Consumers advised not to feed recalled Gerber teething sticks to children

Gerber is advising consumers who purchased the recalled teething sticks not to feed the product to their child and to return it to its place of purchase for a refund. 

“We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this action represents to parents, caregivers and retail customers,” Gerber said. 

Consumers concerned about an injury or illness are advised to contact a healthcare provider while those with more questions about the Gerber teething stick recall may contact the company by phone at 1-800-443-7237.

Nestlé Canada issued a recall for its Gerber Oat Banana & Mango Baby Cereal last year over concerns the product may have been contaminated with Cronobacter.
