Amazon refunds
Amazon began sending claim notices in January to Amazon Prime customers eligible to benefit from a $2.5 billion settlement.
The settlement was made to resolve claims Amazon enrolled tens of millions of customers in Amazon Prime subscriptions without their knowledge or consent and made it difficult for customers to cancel their Amazon Prime subscriptions.
The company previously sent automatic refunds to eligible Prime customers in November and December 2025 and is now sending claims notices to eligible Prime customers who did not receive an automatic refund.
In addition to a $1 billion civil penalty, Amazon is required to pay $1.5 billion in refunds to Amazon Prime customers affected by its allegedly unlawful enrollment and cancellation practices, according to the FTC.
Eligible Amazon Prime customers will receive a refund of their Amazon Prime subscription fees, up to a maximum of $51. The company said it expects to send its next round of payments in late 2026, according to the FTC.
Next-Gen refunds
The FTC sent a second round of refund checks totaling more than $13.5 million to consumers who lost money to a prize scheme operated by Next-Gen and its related companies.
The refunds are the result of a complaint brought against the companies by the FTC and the state of Missouri over claims the companies promoted fake sweepstakes and “game of skill” contests that promised cash prizes.
The FTC previously sent more than $10.7 million in refunds in July 2022. The second round of refund checks, totaling 104,820 checks total, were sent to people who cashed their first check.
Anyone who received a refund check is asked to cash it within 90 days.
First American Payment Systems settlement
People whose business was enrolled with First American Payment Systems between June 2017 and April 2020 and who were charged an early termination fee can currently apply for a refund.
The FTC is currently reviewing claims. The agency previously sent more than 5,500 checks totaling more than $2.6 million in February 2025 to businesses enrolled with First American Payment Systems and who were allegedly charged hidden or unauthorized fees.
First American Payment Systems paid $4.9 million to settle the FTC’s claims. The agency claimed the payment processor — which used sales offices with a number of different business names — used misleading sales pitches and charged hidden fees.
Anyone who receives a refund check is asked to cash it within 90 days.
NGL settlement
Consumers who were an NGL Pro customer and who paid for unauthorized charges can file a claim online to benefit from a $4.5 million settlement.
NGL Labs and its co-founders agreed to the settlement to end claims they sent fake messages that appeared to come from real people and tricked users into signing up for paid subscriptions by falsely claiming that doing so would reveal the identity of the senders of messages.
The claims were brought by the FTC and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. In order to qualify for a refund, persons must have paid for NGL Pro between January 2022 and July 2024 and experienced unauthorized charges.
The deadline to file a claim is April 6, 2026. Individuals who file a claim form must be at least 18 years of age or have their claim form completed by a parent or guardian, according to the FTC.
