Ford Truck Brake Problems Reportedly Linked to Master Cylinder DefectTruck owners have been reporting Ford truck brakes problems, including loss of brake fluids in 2013-2014 Ford F-150s. A number of vehicle owners of Ford F-150s have reported that their brakes are just not working and not allowing them to stop at stop signs and red lights.

In fact, a recall of 2013-2014 F-150s has recently been issued because of Ford truck brakes problems. The issue is reportedly linked to a defect in the engine’s master cylinder. This is what is causing a failure of the vehicles to come to a stop and causing their brake fluid to leak.

However, the 2016 recall did not cover F-150 vehicles manufactured between 2013-2014 nor any 2015-2018 vehicles even though they reportedly possess the same issue as vehicles that were recalled. Even so, federal traffic safety agencies warn that vehicles that were supposedly “fixed” were repaired using the same defective part.

Overview: Ford Truck Brakes Problems

According to an investigation by Nashville’s WSMV, there have been more than 200 drivers who filed complaints over Ford truck brake problems in their 2015-2016 vehicles with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The drivers report that their F-150s are failing to stop and that even though they are pressing the brake pedal all the way to the floor of the vehicle, the truck just does not come to a brake.

According to NHTSA documents, Ford has been aware of these complaints since 2016 but has failed to announce a recall.

One consumer reports that, while on a trip with his wife in Savannah, Ga., he experienced serious Ford truck brakes problems. He says that “It’s a true safety defect that needs immediate attention.”

The WSMV investigation says that it found complaints stemming from 38 states around the country pertaining to Ford F-150s manufactured between 2015 and 2016. According to the report, one drivers said that when their brakes failed to work they almost hit the back of a school bus.

Other consumers reported that the failure of the brakes to work “could have killed me” and that the Ford truck brake problems are “a very big safety issue.” Other consumers stated, according to the investigation, that there were many minor injuries resulting from the crashes caused by Ford brakes problems. One consumer, according to the report, said that he was lucky that he didn’t die.

Internal documents that have been sent to the NHTSA from Ford indicated that the company, while they were aware of the issue, had reported failure numbers too low relative to the number of complaints. In fact, complaints have definitely ballooned, WSMV reports. In the space of two weeks, consumers from Arizona, Colorado, and California have filed complaints over Ford truck brakes problems.

While there has been a recall announced for Ford F-150 vehicles manufactured between 2013 and 2014, there has not been one for vehicles manufactured between 2015 and 2016. One consumer advised that “The recall needs to be expanded.”

In fact, a Ford class action lawsuit has been filed, alleging that the braking systems are defective.

Ford says in a statement that they “are cooperating with NHTSA, as we always do. We take the safety of our customers very seriously and utilize data to determine which vehicles are included in recalls. When the data indicates a recall is needed, we act quickly on behalf of our customers. We recommend owners experiencing an issue to contact their dealer or Ford customer service.”

I am trying to join the Ford F150 brake failure class action lawsuit. I have a 2015 and while on vacation in the Alaskan mountains, my brakes failed. I took it for repair and was informed that it is indeed the master cylinder leaking into the booster. This could have caused death to myself and my wife. Something must be done. Can someone inform me how to join.
