Ford recall overview:ย

  • Who: Ford Motor Co. recalled certain 2021-2022 models, including Ford Broncos, F-150s, Edges, Explorers and Lincoln Nautiluses and Aviators.ย ย
  • Why: The engine intake valve may break while the vehicle is in use, leading to engine failure and loss of power.ย
  • Where: The Ford recall includes more than 90,000 vehicles sold throughout the United States.ย

Ford Motor Co. recalled specific 2021-2022 vehicles equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine, includingย

  • Ford Broncoย
  • Ford Edge
  • Ford Explorer
  • Ford F-150
  • Lincoln Aviator
  • Lincoln Nautilusย

The Ford EcoBoost engine may contain an intake valve that has the propensity to break, according to the recall notice, which also states if the valve fails, the driver may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in an immediate loss of power.ย

The check engine light usually warns drivers of the Ford EcoBoost engine failure, according to the recall notice. Additionally, consumers may notice that the vehicle is running roughly. ย ย

Ford says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Ford to replace engines in thousands of vehicles, recall notice states

Per the recall notice, owners of vehicles with the Ford EcoBoost engine should take their vehicle to the dealership immediately. The dealer will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if needed. All labor and replacement parts will be free.ย ย ย

Owners who have already paid to replace the engine or repair damages caused by intake valve failure may be eligible for reimbursement.ย

For more information, owners may contact customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153). The primary contact for this recall is Dusty Gardner, who can be reached via email at dusty.gardner@dot.gov.ย

This is not the only recall Ford Motor Co. issued this year. In July, Ford recalled the 2024 Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus models for automatic windows that exert excessive force, and the 2022-2023 Mustang models due to steering wheels that turn without warning.ย ย

I have the Ford F-150 2021 as noted. They have not sent anything out about this recall yet. Where can we get additional information on the issue and what is the next step?

I need to know if the 2017 F150s have a recall because of the 10sp auto turn off feature that messes with the Transmission and has no power please and thank you

I need to know if the 2013 escape is recalled. Ours drives fine for a while then all of a sudden it either begins to die out or it loses acceleration putt putting around until you restart it. Now the electrical flickering is going insane and even though there is a good battery on it every morning and sometimes throughout the day it needs jumped. It only needs a split sec of touching the cables, but will not start any other way. The lights and everything all work unless you try to start it like three or more times then they begin flickering everywhere.

My 2018 F150 has been great but then the engine light came on. Along with that is a low hum, reminiscent of old studded snow tires driving, and the automatic transmission shifting has been rough at times. A technician did a test & said the catalytic converter was set too sensitive & the hum may be wheel bearings or some vacuum pump, but I do not have the money for more diagnostic testing to determine what it really is. Not good.
