The Ford EcoBoost engine may contain an intake valve that has the propensity to break, according to the recall notice, which also states if the valve fails, the driver may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in an immediate loss of power.ย
The check engine light usually warns drivers of the Ford EcoBoost engine failure, according to the recall notice. Additionally, consumers may notice that the vehicle is running roughly. ย ย
Ford says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Ford to replace engines in thousands of vehicles, recall notice states
Per the recall notice, owners of vehicles with the Ford EcoBoost engine should take their vehicle to the dealership immediately. The dealer will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if needed. All labor and replacement parts will be free.ย ย ย
Owners who have already paid to replace the engine or repair damages caused by intake valve failure may be eligible for reimbursement.ย
For more information, owners may contact customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153). The primary contact for this recall is Dusty Gardner, who can be reached via email at dusty.gardner@dot.gov.ย

60 thoughts onFord recalls vehicles with EcoBoost engines
I purchased a Ford EcoSport 2021 model back in 2022; called dealership here in San Antonio, TX, Mac Haik Ford, and spoke with one of the Service Department personnel, letting him know that I needed to bring my car in because of the recall. He informed me that parts were not available, and if my engine light or oil light came on, then I am to take it in to the dealership. Period!
I still canโt believe there isnโt a recall for the 2.0 Ecoboosts that have been known to have thin cylinder walls causing cracking and coolant intrusion into the cylinders! This happened to our 2018 Edge. There is a TSB on the issue, but no recall! Fortunately, our extended warranty covered the cost of a new engine
Couldnโt agree more! I just spent 10k on a new engine for my 2018 Mustang that was 6k miles past the powertrain warranty. (66k miles only)
Every mechanic we asked about the issue said that it was an extremely common occurrence with the model.
I have a 2019 ford eco sport that has been recalled the dealership said the engine was blown up ford and the dealership said it was on me after over a year of fighting with them I get to finally order the part recalled mind you the part not a new engine plus had to go in debt for another car so I could take my child with autism back and forth to dr appointments and all I am still getting after a year is the part has been ordered still paying on a new vehicle that is blown up and full coverage insurance
I,have 2015 ford escape ecoboost itโs not running is it a recqll
So far, my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport OBX has been running smoothly! I will get it checked, ASAP!
I have a F150 2013 with 3.5 and engine is not running
I feel like Iโve dropped a couple of IQ points after reading these comments about Ford. Please everyone, if you canโt spell, or put together a sentence that makes a bit of sense, donโt comment. It makes me believe that you are incapable of following neccessary scheduled maintenance on your vehicle.
My brother has a F-150 with 330000 miles and still going it has the Ecoboost 2.7
I have been buying Ford F1 50s for over 40 years. I currently have a 2014 and at only 65,000 miles. I took it to the dealership and they said it was a timing change issue and it will cost me $5000 to repair. This is absurd I have never, had this type of issue! Now I canโt even drive it because the engine light is on and I canโt afford to pay that kind of money and my extended warranty would not cover it. What a waste of money.
My sons 2017 Ford Escape, fairly low mileage, kept up with maintenance. Just had a catastrophic engine failure, block cracked I believe. He is now stuck with a pile of unusable Ford crap that he still owes 5000 on. Never buying Ford again, amazing.
Well I been driving Fords since 1996. I hade a 1996 Ford Mustang GT 2017 Lincoln LS 2015 Ford Explorer Limited 2017 ExplorerLimited and now I own a 2019 Explorer Limited havenโt had any problems with any of my sUVโs. I am 67 yrs young and my parents also has always driven a Ford and they never had any problems as a matter of fact my 96 Mustang GT is still in good condition and running. So as for me I will always own a Ford looking forward to the 2025 Explorerโ.
My engine stalked on a road before and was fixed mine is a 2012 and when I hot in about a week ago the brake light came on and the airbag light tape has been put over it Iโm nervous to go on a hugehiway I 9ray for being safe every day for mme to be safe when i go out and come bk i believe but my car still needs looking at im in CANADA .
If you take care of a ford it takes care if you ..
No it doesnโt. I have a 2018 Escape with 68,000 miles on it and the engine just died. Car has been well taken care of to. Ford is very aware of the issues with their cars and chooses to do nothing about their screw up.
