Ford recall overview:ย

  • Who: Ford Motor Co. recalled certain 2021-2022 models, including Ford Broncos, F-150s, Edges, Explorers and Lincoln Nautiluses and Aviators.ย ย
  • Why: The engine intake valve may break while the vehicle is in use, leading to engine failure and loss of power.ย
  • Where: The Ford recall includes more than 90,000 vehicles sold throughout the United States.ย

Ford Motor Co. recalled specific 2021-2022 vehicles equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine, includingย

  • Ford Broncoย
  • Ford Edge
  • Ford Explorer
  • Ford F-150
  • Lincoln Aviator
  • Lincoln Nautilusย

The Ford EcoBoost engine may contain an intake valve that has the propensity to break, according to the recall notice, which also states if the valve fails, the driver may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in an immediate loss of power.ย

The check engine light usually warns drivers of the Ford EcoBoost engine failure, according to the recall notice. Additionally, consumers may notice that the vehicle is running roughly. ย ย

Ford says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Ford to replace engines in thousands of vehicles, recall notice states

Per the recall notice, owners of vehicles with the Ford EcoBoost engine should take their vehicle to the dealership immediately. The dealer will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if needed. All labor and replacement parts will be free.ย ย ย

Owners who have already paid to replace the engine or repair damages caused by intake valve failure may be eligible for reimbursement.ย

For more information, owners may contact customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153). The primary contact for this recall is Dusty Gardner, who can be reached via email at dusty.gardner@dot.gov.ย

This is not the only recall Ford Motor Co. issued this year. In July, Ford recalled the 2024 Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus models for automatic windows that exert excessive force, and the 2022-2023 Mustang models due to steering wheels that turn without warning.ย ย

  1. Terrance R. Maguire says:

Iโ€™ve got a 2013 Ford Escape 2.0 EcoBoost engine tool box parked in my driveway.
Loss of power at first but now will try to drive forward in all shifter selections except Park of course. Fords are junk and always have been. Now thereโ€™s a Chevy in my driveway.
Second and LAST TIME I BUY A FORD.

What does being a lady have to do about your failure on general maintenance schedule routine? Thatโ€™s a democratic statement you made. You must be from California.

Attn. I am a handicapped victim and I feel that is why Ford dealership has used me since day 1. This hurts me to where I may never deal with Ford again.

I spent over 5,000 to replace my water pump in my 2018 Ford explorer that had 127,000 miles and have been through 4 high grade batteries and a/c 1,7000 . I t all happened once my cooling system was replaced wtf? I even had an extended warranty they wouldnโ€™t honor.

Attn. The Ford Focus that I got in 2016, has had problems with it since I paid it off. The company that I got it from always wanted to act like it was my fault when it had problems. Thankfully my friend knew more about it than the company. The head company still knew what they did to the car, and now I have to try to find a transmission that I cannot afford. All I can say is, if you are a lady, do not buy a Ford.
Thanks for nothing Ford motor company.

    1. Kimberly H Jordan says:

Yes it is an Ecoboost also in 2015 Ford Focus SE.

  5. Michael Goodson says:

My transmission went out and I have a 2016 Ford edge it is a Ecoboost

    1. Robert Fennelly says:

I have a 2016 Ford Edge SEL AWD with 102000 miles it is a 4 cylinder Ecoboost engine.. I had a complete loss of power and the engine is in need of replacement. Is my car covered by any of the recalls. Any information would be appreciated

  6. Deb Hartman says:

Glad to read that Ford is taking responsibility for some of its faulty EcoBoost engines. When will they include my 2018 Edge that experienced catastrophic engine failure a year ago! I only had 70K miles on it so I decided to pay $7000 to get a new engine. No more Fords for me

  7. Jack Blankenship says:

They should be made to replace all of the crap 5.4 3v triton engines

  8. Karltz Isidore says:

My 2020 Ford F-150 check engine light just came on for the same issue recall with the lost off power in the engine. Why isnโ€™t that year listed on it as well I am experiencing the same issue with my truck. I came online to see what I could find about getting this correct and came up on this article.

  9. Richard says:

Ford has more recalls 3 years running. At the very least bring the manufacturing jobs back to the US. Jim Farley should be replaced.

  10. Luke says:

I had a 2017 Fusion with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. Exhaust valve broke. Had to trade because I couldnโ€™t afford the repair costs. Now Iโ€™m $10k upside down on a 22 Outback because the bad engine tanked the trade in value.
