Ford recall overview:ย

  • Who: Ford Motor Co. recalled certain 2021-2022 models, including Ford Broncos, F-150s, Edges, Explorers and Lincoln Nautiluses and Aviators.ย ย
  • Why: The engine intake valve may break while the vehicle is in use, leading to engine failure and loss of power.ย
  • Where: The Ford recall includes more than 90,000 vehicles sold throughout the United States.ย

Ford Motor Co. recalled specific 2021-2022 vehicles equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine, includingย

  • Ford Broncoย
  • Ford Edge
  • Ford Explorer
  • Ford F-150
  • Lincoln Aviator
  • Lincoln Nautilusย

The Ford EcoBoost engine may contain an intake valve that has the propensity to break, according to the recall notice, which also states if the valve fails, the driver may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in an immediate loss of power.ย

The check engine light usually warns drivers of the Ford EcoBoost engine failure, according to the recall notice. Additionally, consumers may notice that the vehicle is running roughly. ย ย

Ford says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Ford to replace engines in thousands of vehicles, recall notice states

Per the recall notice, owners of vehicles with the Ford EcoBoost engine should take their vehicle to the dealership immediately. The dealer will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if needed. All labor and replacement parts will be free.ย ย ย

Owners who have already paid to replace the engine or repair damages caused by intake valve failure may be eligible for reimbursement.ย

For more information, owners may contact customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153). The primary contact for this recall is Dusty Gardner, who can be reached via email at dusty.gardner@dot.gov.ย

This is not the only recall Ford Motor Co. issued this year. In July, Ford recalled the 2024 Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus models for automatic windows that exert excessive force, and the 2022-2023 Mustang models due to steering wheels that turn without warning.ย ย

My engine light comes on and goes off multiple.times this past 3 years, spent over 5000 on replacement parts, oxygen sensor, transmission, fuel pump, still canโ€™t figure out why this is happening. Has issues accelerating, deceleration, idol, was on highway and engine light came on out of nowhere, had to pull over before engine died on me. then came back on 10min later, and was fine.. now this week, same thing, got it towed after it died a half block from my house. This morning the dealership said there are no diagnostic codes on it.. and either way, canโ€™t get in to see someone until 9/23.. so how much am I going to be paying for rentals, etc again?! This is insane. Itโ€™s obviously all the same issue, and my VIN is not on the recall list. Absolutely livid.

  2. CogitoErgoSum says:

It just unbelievable that this recall does not include the Ranger. The same exact problems have occurred with the Ranger. Numerous complaints filed on every site you can find. People left with exuberant debt, vehicles they canโ€™t drive or expenses they incur changing engines only for them to fail again; disgusting!

I had a ford C max it was a 65 reg it was a lovely car I absolutely loved it. Done 32000 miles and one day driving back from work the engine failed leaving me stranded on a busy A,road had to call the police to close a lane off as it was rush hour.. it was so depressing to me as I also have Multiple sclerosis and need a car to go hospital appointments etc. Was told it couldnโ€™t be fixed so unfortunately had to scrap my beloved c max. Then had to buy a second hand car that cost ยฃ7000. Absolutely disappointed with any eco boost cars now stear clear of these it will cost a fortune in the end and inconveniences.

We owned a Ford 2022 Eco Boost. traveling on vacation, our truck experienced this problem. We limped into the next town and they were able to do a quick fix, but said it would need a 2500 repair. My phone was plugged into the USB and it caused my phone to fry. I had to buy a new phone at tine cost of 1200. Not having 2500 for repair we traded it in and bought a 2024 Eco Boost. What a scam, too little too late. Ford needs to make it right for those of us who were effected financially.

  5. Yvonne Boyle says:

When is ford going to fix the problem with the use of the phone, paid near 70,000 and the use of the phone is useless

    1. CogitoErgoSum says:

Seriously, youโ€™re worried about using a phone? We still owe $30,000 on a truck with a dead engineโ€ฆget a life.

  6. Thomas says:

  7. Amanda says:

I have a 2019 ecoboost escape I just paid over 4700 for repairs and I have coolant intrusion. My family has owed numerous ford products. I have had two mustangs one mustang I drove for 17 years had over 300000 and I never had an engine problem nor a flex plate issue this is crazy. They need to recall ALL ecoboost engines !!!

  8. Chuck says:

Iโ€™ve a 2019 Ecpedition that has had certain specific actions taken 3-4 times for a cam phaser issue. If STILL TICKS and sounds like it is going to come apart. I reported a hesitation issue as well and thought it was an engine issueโ€ฆ but lately I read that the new 10 speed transmission causes that problem!!! When can I get relief for these issues?

  9. Kimberly Stylinski says:

I also have a 2019 Ford EcoSport I bought in January and itโ€™s now September itโ€™s been in the shop seven times and I can get no support from either of the dealership or there werenโ€™t you company I just have to keep paying and paying and paying.

    1. Louis Fazzi says:

It sounds like you have a pretty decent lemon law claim. An experienced lawyer can really help you with your claims. Donโ€™t delay, because time may be of the essence.

      1. Marvin McGee says:

        Whining noise.

      2. Estelle Costello says:

DOES THIS APPLY TO THE UK AS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE UK FORD RESPONSE IS NO DEATHS YETโ€ฆ..!!!!

MY CAR WAS A FORD ECOSPORT 2019 PLATE 43.000 BRAND NEW PURCHASE FROM FORD. NOBODY IN FORD UK WILL LOOK AT THIS ISSUE DISGUSTING.

  10. Valerie Fitzsimmons says:

I have a 2021 Ford Ecosport, after one and a half weeks I started hearing a whining noise but not all the time. A week later my daughter heard it so I took it to my local mechanic who thought it was the clutch and told me to take it back to the dealership straight away, which I did. They booked it in for 2 days later. After checking it they said the clutch and flywheel had burnt out. Itโ€™s only done over 18,000 miles and I only added about 180 miles driving around town and to the nearest town 12 miles away. The dealership are saying itโ€™s my fault, but 2 separate mechanics have said itโ€™s not my fault. I am fighting the dealership at the moment. I paid ยฃ15,000 for the car, which is still at the dealership and which they expect me to pay to repair it.
