Ford recall overview:ย

  • Who: Ford Motor Co. recalled certain 2021-2022 models, including Ford Broncos, F-150s, Edges, Explorers and Lincoln Nautiluses and Aviators.ย ย
  • Why: The engine intake valve may break while the vehicle is in use, leading to engine failure and loss of power.ย
  • Where: The Ford recall includes more than 90,000 vehicles sold throughout the United States.ย

Ford Motor Co. recalled specific 2021-2022 vehicles equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine, includingย

  • Ford Broncoย
  • Ford Edge
  • Ford Explorer
  • Ford F-150
  • Lincoln Aviator
  • Lincoln Nautilusย

The Ford EcoBoost engine may contain an intake valve that has the propensity to break, according to the recall notice, which also states if the valve fails, the driver may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in an immediate loss of power.ย

The check engine light usually warns drivers of the Ford EcoBoost engine failure, according to the recall notice. Additionally, consumers may notice that the vehicle is running roughly. ย ย

Ford says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Ford to replace engines in thousands of vehicles, recall notice states

Per the recall notice, owners of vehicles with the Ford EcoBoost engine should take their vehicle to the dealership immediately. The dealer will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if needed. All labor and replacement parts will be free.ย ย ย

Owners who have already paid to replace the engine or repair damages caused by intake valve failure may be eligible for reimbursement.ย

For more information, owners may contact customer service at 866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153). The primary contact for this recall is Dusty Gardner, who can be reached via email at dusty.gardner@dot.gov.ย

This is not the only recall Ford Motor Co. issued this year. In July, Ford recalled the 2024 Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus models for automatic windows that exert excessive force, and the 2022-2023 Mustang models due to steering wheels that turn without warning.ย ย

  1. Jodi says:

In 2021 .. Our company sent our Ford 2008 F550 for a new FORD OEM 2021 motor installation at Cocalico Automotive and we spent over $29000 in tow bills and repairs. It ran for about 3 weeks total after the new ford motor installation and then broke down countless times. It spent at Cocalico Automotive for repair that they left the hood open over the winter. then finally said it needs to go to Ford for Motor warranty and the Motor is at fault. Then Ford in New Holland Pa states there is rust and they wonโ€™t honor the warranty. But it was a brand new motor !
I am no mechanic, but feel these problems have been happening much longer than 2021 and 2022. I think that Ford and the Ford motor installers, just rarely admitted fault. We still can not use our truck.

Are the ecoboost engines different in the Escape vs the ones in the recall? Asking because I have an Escape

    1. Netghost says:

Because it doesnโ€™t have the same engine as the vehicles in question. If your experiencing power loss you should definitely bring your escape to a dealership or other trustworthy mechanic.

  3. Martin says:

Ford needs to include the escape and fusion in this recall. A lot of people with the 1.5 eco boost having loss of power issues too. I have a 2018 escape AWD that has issues starting up and accelerating. Iโ€™ve been working on the car myself because a mechanic quoted me nearly $4k to fix it. Meanwhile dealer said it needs a new engine. Ford should be held accountable for selling a vehicle with the engine that I see had issues going back to at least 2013 model(s) year. I was told when buying the Escape that all the issues were โ€œfixedโ€ for the 2017 model year. Of course most people having issues around 60k miles. My issue started at around 85k miles.

    1. Latisha Waller says:

F150 LARIAT NEED TO BE IN THIS RECALL AS WELL

  4. Heidie Bragg says:

2019 ford edge titanium. Transmission goes bad. I called a warrenty company and even they knew about 2019 transmission are bad. There is no known recall for this year and model.

  5. Brittany says:

    2018 fusion 1.5L eco boost
Worst car ever. One issue after another & currently still have to pay on it while Ford donโ€™t fix or recall the problem when they are fully aware of the problem. Itโ€™s awful people buy โ€˜dependableโ€™ vehicles & put their families in there that could potentially cause an accident.

  6. Katrina says:

2015 ford mustang ecoboost motor needs replaced

  7. Donald Addison says:

What about transmission on 2015 Ford Explorerโ€™s! Less than 95,000 miles, and already needs replacing!

  8. Lizzie Jones says:

I have a 2018 ford escape se,2.0 ecoboost engine, 86,000 miles, blown head gasket

    1. Jennifer Van Tuinen says:

      2015 and same issue

  9. Carol knott says:

2013 Edge All wheel drive back up camera is backwards motor on the tRear whipper blades donโ€™t work had it replaced still donโ€™t work

  10. Colleen.Rangel Garcia says:

I have a 2017 I had to have dealer ship put new motor in, because of the eco-boost, the anti freeze was leaking down the cylinders into the oil pan, my idiot lights was not working, not even when you started the car. My back window also imploded from the hot and cold, than you have all the recalls15. The second motor also blew, I donโ€™t know how you can sell cars with all these problems
