Ford EcoBoost class action lawsuit overview:ย
- Who: Plaintiffs Trevor Nelson and Sarah Nelson filed a class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Co.ย

- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.ย
Ford Motor Companyโs EcoBoost engines contain a โcriticalโ defect that causes engine coolant to leak into the engineโs cylinders, a new class action lawsuit alleges.ย
Plaintiffโs Trevor Nelson and Sarah Nelsonโs class action lawsuit claims the defect causes Ford vehicles equipped with the EcoBoost engines to suffer from overheating, โcatastrophicโ engine failures and potential engine fires, even at low mileage.ย
โThe presence of coolant within the cylinders of the engine, alone, can also result in power loss, cylinder wall corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure,โ the Ford EcoBoost class action says.ย
Trevor Nelson and Sarah Nelson want to represent a class of California residents who have purchased a vehicle equipped with a Ford EcoBoost engine.ย
The Nelsonโs also are seeking to represent a subclass of California residents under the stateโs Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) and an implied warranty subclass of California residents who purchased or leased and took delivery in the state of any class vehicle.ย
Automaker failed to provide โeffectiveโ fix to alleged Ford EcoBoost engine defect, class action claims
Plaintiffs Trevor Nelson and Sarah Nelson argue Ford has failed to โprovide an effective solutionโ to consumers who purchased a class vehicle containing an allegedly defective Ford EcoBoost engine.ย
Instead of replacing the engine block to remedy the alleged defect, Ford has โmerely appliedโ โsuperficial stopgap, Band-Aid remedies,โ such as recalibrating engine software and installing coolant level sensors, the Ford EcoBoost class action claims.ย
โFord has not satisfactorily or effectively addressed the source of the defect for those consumers, including for those whose vehicles remain in warranty,โ the Ford EcoBoost class action says.ย
In addition to allegedly violating the CLRA, the Nelsonโs claim Ford is guilty of California breach of express and implied warranty, breach of implied warranty under the stateโs Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and Californiaโs Unfair Competition Law.ย
The plaintiffs demand a jury trial and request declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory, exemplary and statutory damages for themselves and all class members.ย
Ford recalled more than 500,000 of its Ford F-150 vehicles in June over worries a transmission issue with their transmissions could cause the vehicles to suddenly shift into first gear.ย

I have a 2019 Lincoln with a 2.0 ecoboost engine. I do not have any issue at this tim but I only have 5,700 miles on the vehicle.
Add me I have a 2017 Ford F150 with the ecoboost with the same problem and Ford wonโt do anything to help me. Please contact me or give us a number to call. This is ridiculous. The transmission started acting up at 40k miles and had to have it fixed and Ford wouldnโt fix it. Also the motor has knocked since I got it. Ford wants me to pay for the Phasers that are bad in it. The Phasers have knocked since I got it.
I have a 2013 Escape Titanium that has had the check engine light on over 2 years now. No matter what sensor we change, other steps my garage has taken also, it will not go out. Itโs been throwing 4 codes that should have been fixed with the repair done but no luck. I may not qualify due to the mileage, but canโt hurt.
Add me, I have a 2018 ford mustang eco just presented with this same issues a week ago.
Add me
add me also i have a 2017 ford f150 eco boost 3.5 also
I have a 2014 ECO Boost F150 I have had problem with the engine and sensor since 2018 all ford keeps doing is replace the sensor. The sensor still keeps going off and I lose all engine power and it shakes while driving when the sensor is blinking. Now the sensor stays lit everywhere I go, but Ford can never fix the problem when I bring it in for repairs, but they like to keep my truck for a full days to replace the sensor leaving me with out a vehicle. That is one full day of sitting and waiting for repairs. Now, I dont even take it to Ford service, because I can not trust they can fix the issue.
My 2018 ford focus is sitting in my driveway.engine light on oil light on.i canโt trust this thing.recalled but the canโt service it until october..I paid 22000 for this piece of junk and here I sit in maine with no transportation..it has 67000 miles on it..please add me on the list
Our 2017 Ford Escape SE just started to have this issue this Wednesday. Our mechanic (not Ford dealership) provided information on this issue, and basically told us weโre headed for trouble. He replaced a coil end plug, but the check engine light came on again yesterday. We still have a warranty on the car, but I have to wait until Monday to talk to the service manager where we bought the car. A dealership weโve been buying cars from for over 20 years. Please add me to the list.
My 2014 ford escape ecoboost had a catastrophic engine failure 8 months ago. I just finished paying it off in july. Add me to the list.
