WEN-hair-loss-brushA new voice has joined the chorus of dissatisfied consumers claiming that WEN haircare products caused users to lose their hair.

Tina B., a resident of Brooksville Florida, recently spoke out about her experience with WEN products. According to Tina, prior to using WEN hair products she frequently enjoyed purchasing expensive hair products and conditioning treatments.

After using WEN hair products, however, Tina claims she is going bald and no longer takes any joy in taking care of her thinning hair. Tina reportedly doesn’t even want to leave her house, and dreads even looking in the mirror most days.

Tina states that she received the expensive hair care product as a birthday gift from her sister. A bottle of WEN conditioner, sold primarily through infomercials and at upscale retail stores like Sephora, can run approximately $35.

Tina says she noticed her hair falling out after the first time she used the product. According to her interview with News Channel 8, Tina began to notice her bathtub drain was becoming clogged with chunks of hair. She began to see bald spots expanding on her scalp, and alleges that when she would brush or scratch her head her hair would rip out from the root. She told the news channel that she began vacuuming all the time due to the amount of hair she was losing. She stated that she would find hair all over her pillow and her car as well.

According to Channel 8, when Tina first began losing hair she thought she was sick and began taking vitamins. But then she watched an episode of the Channel 8 news and saw a segment about women all over the country who were reporting significant and sudden hair loss. According to the report, the women claimed the common factor was that they had all used WEN hair care products.

From this program Tina also learned that a class action lawsuit is in the works, and decided she wanted to join. According to channel 8, the class action lawsuits that have been filed include both Chaz Dean, the celebrity face of the product, and Guethy-Renker, the distributer, as defendants.

WEN released a statement to NBC News about the allegations against the company. WEN stated that no scientific evidence supports a claim that WEN hair care products cause consumers to lose their hair.

Amidst the outcry from Tina and others, product liability attorneys are available for potential plaintiffs looking to bring WEN lawsuits against the hair product manufacturer and distributor. Class action lawsuits help spread the costs of litigation among the various members in the group. They can be extremely useful in cases where the potential monetary compensation may not justify bringing an individual lawsuit.
