Cargill Kitchen Solutions is recalling a little more than 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products after discovering potential contamination with a cleaning solution.

The liquid eggs, produced in March 2025, may contain sodium hypochlorite, a compound used in cleaning solutions, according to a March 28 press release. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service classified it as a Class III recall, indicating that the risk of adverse health consequences is negligible.

The recall was announced after FSIS received a tip regarding the contamination. The affected products include various “Egg Beaters” and “Bob Evans Better’n Eggs” liquid egg substitutes, all bearing the establishment number “G1804.”

These items were distributed to locations in several states, with a possibility of nationwide distribution, the recall says.

Do not consume recalled liquid egg products, recall warns

FSIS has advised consumers and foodservice providers to refrain from using the recalled liquid egg products, urging them to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the recall states.

The recall includes specific products with “use by” dates ranging from August 2025 to March 2026. The recall affects distributors in Ohio and Texas, and foodservice use in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, and Iowa, with the possibility of nationwide distribution.

Cargill Kitchen Solutions says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

I had to go to the docter about 4 times. I was severely sick for about 2 1/2 weeks. My symptoms were dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and I would throw up at least 4 times a day.
