Drinkmate has issued a recall for its 1-liter carbonation bottles due to the risk of explosion, which can lead to impact, laceration and hearing damage. The recall affects more than 106,000 units in the United States and 5,000 in Canada.
The recall, announced on Aug. 14, involves Drinkmate 1L Carbonation Bottles made of clear polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with caps and bases in red, blue, white and black. These bottles have expiration dates between January 2026 and October 2026, printed on their sides.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “The recalled Drinkmate 1L Carbonation Bottles can explode during use, posing serious impact, laceration and hearing damage hazards to users and bystanders.”
Drinkmate has received eight reports of bottles exploding, resulting in four incidents of lacerations, impact injuries and hearing damage.
The bottles were sold online at major retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Target from April 2023 through October 2024.
Consumers urged to stop using recalled bottles immediately
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled bottles immediately and contact Drinkmate for a free replacement.
Customers should fill out a replacement form on Drinkmate’s website, upload a photo of the bottle marked with “Recall” and dispose of it properly. They will then receive a code to order a free replacement bottle, with shipping included.

Although Drinkmate has received reports of injuries related to the recall, the company is not currently facing legal action. Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In July, Walmart recalled its Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles after reports indicated that the lids can eject forcefully, posing a risk of serious injury.
