Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar recall overview:
- Who: Pepsi Beverages Company has recalled more than 19,000 cases of Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar.
- Why: The product was recalled due to incorrect zero-sugar labeling when the drinks actually contained full sugar.
- Where: The recall is active in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
Hundreds of thousands of cans of Dr Pepper Zero have been recalled because they’re incorrectly labeled as a zero-sugar product, when the product contains “full sugar.”
Pepsi Beverages announced a voluntary recall last month of 19,203 12-pack and 24-pack cases of 12-ounce cans of Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar.
The recall applies to cans with product code XXXXRS05165 and “best by” date of Feb. 16, 2026, that were distributed to Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
On June 5, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration increased the recall to a Class II. According to the FDA, a product under a Class II recall may lead to “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” or a situation “where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
Incorrectly-labeled Dr. Pepper Zero removed from shelves, recall says
The recall states that affected products can be returned to the store of purchase for a refund or shared with people who can drink full-sugar soda.
Pepsi Beverages says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Last year, beverage giants PepsiCo and Coca-Cola Los were slammed with a lawsuit by Los Angeles County alleging the companies misled consumers about recycling’s effectiveness in reducing plastic waste.
