DoorDash delivery fees class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Leonard Lawson filed a class action lawsuit against DoorDash, Inc.
- Why: Lawson claims DoorDash falsely advertises to its customers that there are no delivery fees despite adding hidden fees in the purchase price of items chosen for delivery.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.
DoorDash falsely promises and advertises free delivery to its customers, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Leonard Lawson claims that while DoorDash will confirm a $0 delivery fee, it includes hidden delivery fees in the purchase price of individual items acquired through the platform.
Lawson argues further that items purchased on DoorDash are routinely marked up from what a merchant would charge for them in a physical store location and that the company charges delivery customers more than those who pick up.
“Through these practices, upon information and belief, DoorDash has concealed billions of dollars in delivery fees from customers and induced millions of customers to sign up for and place orders through the DoorDash platform that otherwise would not have done so,” the DoorDash class action states.
DoorDash class action alleges company does not disclose hidden fees to customers
Lawson claims DoorDash does not disclose to its customers, who rely on the company’s “calculation of the delivery fee to be accurate,” that it charges more for delivery purchases.
Further, Lawson argues DoorDash customers have “no reason to comparison shop” by choosing the pickup option, at which point they would discover they were being charged more for their delivery purchase.
Lawson claims DoorDash is guilty of breach of contract and in violation of California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act, False Advertising Law and Unfair Competition Law.
He demands a jury trial and requests injunctive relief along with damages or equal restitution for himself and all class members.
Lawson wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers who have placed a delivery order through DoorDash and been charged a higher price than they otherwise would have had they purchased the items in person or ordered for pickup.
A separate class action lawsuit was filed against DoorDash early last year over claims the company deprived its drivers of benefits by allegedly misclassifying them as independent contractors, rather than employees.

Hello I I was a member of door dash and I have contacted door dash several times because of an issue with a door dash pass I no longer want or need they have been taking nine dollars and ninety nine from my bank account I’ve tried several times to cancel it but it will not let me I don’t appreciate a company that I once supported continues to take my money they have been taking my for a long time now I can’t keep paying for new bank cards can someone please contact me through email thank you
Please call me. They did the same thing to me.
I would like to be part of the class action. I was actually looking to file myself; I’m glad someone beat me to it. I’ve been price-gauged for years, between the price discrepancies and the fees at the end of the transactions. I have contacted stores regarding the prices, to which I was told their prices do not change for DoorDash. So not only
Are they collecting on those fees, they are collecting by raising the prices on each and every item that is purchased. Hence, they can offer “free” delivery. And then not even pay the drivers their tips, as per a $16.5 million settlement for dashers from a 2024 case. My cousin was one of them.
I am a Dasher and I have evidence that proves they have not paid me what I am owed for working. I take screenshots of everything now because their system is so defunct being run by computers with algorithms.
Door Dash pays out on a Crimson Visa card. Everytime you go to a place like a grocery store that will allow you to get cash back at no charge. The Crimson card will decline the transaction. Over and over again. I have called the Crimsom card customer service number over 100 times. It is next to impossible to resolve the complaint. Yet if you go to an ATM that charges as much as 4.00 to get just 20.00 the transaction goes through with no issues. Even when it has declined $20 over in the grocery store multiple times. I have spent hours on the phone with Crimson Card multiple times over this issue. It seems to me that Crimson will flag as fraudulent charges anytime you want cash over the purchase amount. Please help. John Snyder, state of Virginia.
I’ve been buying thru door dash and their delivery fees are crazy I would like to be part of the lawsuit
I would like to be apart of the scam with door dash. I have been triple charged for 9.99 on multiple occasions and just last month I have 8 charges for 9.99 just in one day this made my bank account overdrawn which is 35 per transactions made some of my other bills not paid. And there has been other orders I placed and the restaurant cancelled my order one was close to 200 and I never received my money and another for 100.00 door dash claimed I wasn’t charged when my bank shows I was charged. This is fraud and literally stealing money I’m a mother of 5 and things are already so expensive and these millionaires are stealing peoples hard earned money. The transactions of 8 charges was just in one day when the first transaction went thru so they are literally just stealing money as much as they could. They refused to return my money and said contact my bank when they are the ones who kept doing these transactions. Please let me know about this class action lawsuit I’m looking into attorneys now. This even made my bank account overdrawn. I’m also a business owner and I have money set aside to pay my employees so because they are stealing money this affects my credit, my name my bank and my business and my 5 kids. They have to be stopped and held accountable.
I’ve had door dash for years and I always noticed tips or hidden fees that changed final price
