A Nebraska woman has filed a new lawsuit against Hospira, alleging that she suffered from serious docetaxel side effects after an injection during cancer treatment, leading to permanent alopecia, or hair loss.

The plaintiff, DeeAnn K., says she was injected with the docetaxel drug as part of her chemotherapy from Aug. 29, 2011, through Dec. 21, 2011. During these months, DeeAnn suffered from hair loss—as most cancer patients expect may occur during chemotherapy.

However, in the months and then years after her chemotherapy treatment was over, DeeAnn says she continued to suffer from these docetaxel side effects. What she expected to be merely temporary hair loss has allegedly become permanent alopecia, a risk she was not aware of when she began cancer treatment with docetaxel.

DeeAnn filed her docetaxel side effects lawsuit on July 2, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including failure to warn, negligence, and fraud and deceit, among several others.
