Consumers nationwide who bought wire harness products directly from DENSO Corp. may be eligible to receive a share of a nearly $274,000 price fixing class action settlement.

The Class includes all consumers who purchased wire harness products in the United States directly from a DENSO entity between Jan. 1, 1998, and March 23, 2017.

According to the class action lawsuit, which began in 2011, plaintiffs allege the company participated in a price-fixing scheme due to having such a huge percent of the market for the wire harnesses and other parts. The plaintiffs claim DENSO intentionally maintained, raised, fixed, stabilized, and rigged bids to ensure its auto parts sold at a specific price in the United States. Further, they claim, DENSO allocated the supply of these parts to ensure they were sold at the fixed price.

As a result of these actions, the plaintiffs say, the company broke federal antitrust laws.

DENSO is adamant it has not participated in any wrongdoing. The company does not accept liability for these claims, and has asserted specific defenses to counter them.

The Court has not made a ruling on this matter, but all parties believe the proposed settlement agreement will resolve all claims.

DENSO is a self-proclaimed trusted, “Tier 1” business to work with, according to the company’s website. In terms of sales, it claims to be the second-largest parts and systems provider worldwide.

Eligible Class Members who want to participate in this class action settlement and submit a claim will receive a fair share of the $273,783.26 settlement fund.

The exact value of this fair share will depend on which part was purchased, how many parts were purchased, and how many Class Members file claims.

Class Members may opt out or object to the wire harness settlement by Jan. 7, 2022.

A final fairness hearing will take place Feb. 17, 2022.

The deadline to file a claim in the wire harness price fixing class action settlement is March 18, 2022.
