One of the market’s most popular wood staining products is reportedly defective.
Several homeowners have used Olympic Rescue It wood stain for their decks or patios, hoping to protect them from the harsh elements. However, numerous consumers have complained that the wood coating either peels off or bubbles off within days or weeks after applying it.
According to the product’s advertisements, Olympic Rescue It is the “ultimate remedy for worn or weathered wood and concrete,” which would ideally provide a high performance wood coating that would make the wood waterproof and resistant to weather-ware.
However, numerous customers have stated otherwise, complaining that the wood stain did not perform any of the functions promised on the advertisements.
Olympic Rescue It is a unique product that is a mix between paint and stain that can be applied to concrete or wood, which would ideally fill in cracks, prevent splinters, and provide a good finish to make the surface barefoot friendly.
The product is advertised to be an acrylic, high performance wood stain that is supposed to provide protection against all forms of weather.
For each of their products, Olympic promises complete customer satisfaction but does not indicate how long Rescue It is supposed to last. In fact, Olympic Rescue It says that the product’s longevity will depend on the condition of the wood or concrete.
However, numerous customers have indicated that the condition of either the wood or concrete is irrelevant as the product failed regardless. Customers complained that they had spent hours applying the wood coating, only to be met with no results.
According to reports from homeowners, Olympic Rescue It wood stain began bubbling and peeling off their decks, only months after the product was applied.
Overview of Olympic Rescue It Allegations
There have been so many complaints, that the product’s own Facebook page is filled with complaints of unsatisfied customers who had bought the wood coating product and reportedly ended up with abysmal results.
Many of them complained that the coating peeled off soon after applying it and did not even last a single season. While the manufacturing company has responded to each complaint on the Facebook page, the company did not admit to any wrongdoing or acknowledge that their product was defective.
However, Olympic did promise to investigate each of the complaints and had requested to speak with the jilted consumers.
Other product review sites have had similar posts, with one couple from Indiana, describing their experience with Olympic Rescue It on Lowe’s customer review site, where the couple purchased the product.
The couple stated that they had spent $160 on Olympic Rescue It to coat their deck the previous summer and stated that the wood stain is already peeling off. The couple complains of being ripped off, and says they were forced to apply wood coating again the next summer.
The couple stated that they are entitled to compensation, as the product had not performed to any level that was promised on the product’s label.
