Costco has issued a recall for its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene and Dubai Style Chocolates due to safety concerns.
The recall affects Prosecco bottles sold between April 25 and Aug. 26, which may shatter unexpectedly, posing a risk to consumers. Additionally, the Dubai Style Chocolates, sold from May 1 to Aug. 20, have a labeling error where gluten is listed as an allergen instead of wheat.
The recall was announced after reports indicated that the Prosecco bottles could break even without being handled. According to the recall notice, consumers are advised not to return the bottles to Costco. Instead, they should wrap them in paper towels and dispose of them safely.
The affected bottles bear the item number 1879870 and were sold in states, including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Recall letters have been sent to affected customers.
Costco offers full refunds for recalled items
Consumers who purchased the Dubai Style Chocolates, identified by item number 1932972, are advised to return them to Costco for a full refund if someone in their household is allergic to wheat.
To address these issues, Costco is offering refunds to affected customers. Those who purchased the Prosecco can obtain a refund by presenting the recall letter at their nearest Costco location. For the chocolates, customers should return the product to receive a refund.
