Numerous consumers have complained about their Lash Boost results, which allegedly contradict what was promised on the product’s warning label. Lash Boost results are supposed to give patients long lasting lashes, but have been allegedly causing serious eye irritations for many consumers.
According to the advertisements provided by the company, Lash Boost results are supposed to give consumers the appearance of longer and healthier eyelashes in four weeks. The company’s web page states consumers can “Get the appearance of lush, longer-looking lashes in as little as four weeks with ENHANCEMENTS Lash Boost.”
The Rodan and Fields website further states that the ingredients of Lash Boost combine to make a “unique proprietary formula that improves the appearance of lash volume and length for lashes that are 100% real.” The product costs consumers $150; however, many consumers are complaining that the price is unreasonable because the product does not work as advertised.
Some consumers have also reported eye irritation or redness if the product makes direct contact with the eye. These side effects reportedly occurred only after a few uses, with other consumers complaining the product caused their lashes to darken into a different color from their hair.
In order to lower the chances of adverse Lash Boost results, the company advises consumers to perform a patch test to determine whether or not their skin is sensitive with the product before use. However, numerous consumers say they have developed adverse eye conditions instead of the desired Lash Boost results, which has resulted in a class action investigation.
Overview of Lash Boost Results
A class action investigation has been launched to look into claims that Lash Boost results included unexpected and problematic side effects. More specifically, the investigation has been launched against Rodan and Fields for certain ingredients in Lash Boost.
In particular, the ingredient isopropyl cloprostenate has drawn the attention of the FDA, which has issued warnings to the makers of other lash enhancer products. According to the FDA, isopropyl cloprostenate is not safe for use except under the supervision of a qualified medical professional.
Isopropyl cloprostenate is part of a group of compounds known as prostaglandin analogs, which are typically used in glaucoma treatment medications. This ingredient has allegedly been causing adverse Lash Boost results in consumers who bought the product, with side effects including:
- Dry Eye
- Eye Irritation
- Eye Inflammation
- Eye Redness
- Change in Iris Color
- Macular Edema
- Low Intraocular Pressure
The FDA has not approved isopropyl cloprostenate for cosmetic purposes, and is only supposed to be found in certain prescription medications. Isopropyl cloprostenate is used in Lash Boost because it promotes eyelash growth, with other ingredients including keratin, biotin, and almond extract.
This class action investigation applies to Washington and California residents who have purchased the Lash Boost product in the last four years. Consumers who participate could potentially receive compensation.
