Taylor Farms issued a recall for yellow onions produced at its facility in Colorado in the wake of a deadly E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s food items.

The McDonald’s E. coli outbreak has been potentially linked to beef and onions, however, no specific ingredient has been confirmed as the source of the issue, according to Taylor Farms.

We take pride in providing safe, healthy fresh foods to people every day. It saddens us to see the illnesses and affected individuals and families from the current (E. coli) outbreak,” the onion recall announcement says.

Consumers with more questions about the onion recall can contact Taylor Farms by telephone at 877-323-7374.

Federal health agencies investigating multi-state McDonald’s E. coli outbreak

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S Department of Agriculture are currently investigating the E. coli outbreak, which has sickened individuals in multiple states and led to one death, as of this writing.

The CDC said all of the individuals who it interviewed as part of its investigation said they ate at McDonald’s prior to falling ill with E. coli, with the majority specifically saying they ate a Quarter Pounder.

The McDonald’s E. coli outbreak has led to reported illnesses in 13 states, with the majority of those affected being in Colorado, reports BBC.

McDonald’s has temporarily removed its Quarter Pounder from the menu in the affected areas, in addition to parts of Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma, according to the company.

A pair of McDonald’s workers filed a class action lawsuit against the company earlier this year claiming it failed to provide a proper space for nursing employees to express breast milk.
