The bank, which specializes in serving small and medium-sized businesses in California and Texas, says it discovered suspicious activity on its network on Feb. 6, 2025.

According to the data breach notice, CBB immediately secured its systems and launched an investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts. The investigation revealed that unauthorized access to the bank’s network occurred from Jan. 25, 2025, to Feb. 8, 2025.

During this period, certain files and folders were viewed and possibly acquired without authorization, CBB says. The compromised information includes customers’ names and other personal details, according to the bank.

CBB says it has taken steps to enhance its Commonwealth Business Bank data security measures and is working with federal regulatory agencies and law enforcement to address the incident.

Customers affected by the breach are encouraged to monitor their credit reports and account statements for any suspicious activity. The bank has provided detailed instructions on how to enroll in the free credit monitoring services and what steps to take if they suspect fraudulent use of their information.

CBB says it is committed to protecting customer data and is reviewing its Commonwealth Business Bank data security policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The bank has set up a dedicated call center reachable at 833-918-1110 (toll free), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding U.S. holidays.

Customers can also enroll in the free credit monitoring, identity restoration and theft protection services. This should be done by Nov. 28, 2025 by 11:59 pm UTC and by visiting the Experian IdentityWorks website.
