A class action lawsuit investigation has been launched against Samsung Electronics Inc., after consumers reported severe Samsung washing machine rusting. More specifically, consumers reported premature Samsung washing machine rusting in the top loading models.
Purchasers say Samsung marketed these stainless steel appliance as “gentler on clothes” and resistant to various forms of damage like rust. This has allegedly not been the case for several consumers, who allege Samsung washing machine rusting had developed in the wash drums of their appliances.
In some of these instances, owners report the Samsung washing machine rusting had developed as soon as a year after the products were purchased. When the washing barrels in the top loaders rust, it can compromise the machine and leave them unusable for laundry.
Several consumers have opted to file legal action against Samsung, after the company allegedly failed to acknowledge the defective nature of their products and refusing to replace them.
One of these consumers has already filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of herself and other consumers with similar experiences and is seeking compensation for replacing her washing machine.
Overview of Samsung Class Action Lawsuit
Plaintiff Irma B. alleges that Samsung had produced and sold various defective washing machines, which caused damage to her property and failed to compensate her for these damages. According to the lawsuit, Irma had purchased a Samsung washing machine in December 2013 and was under the impression that the appliance was in excellent condition without any perceivable defects.
Irma had reportedly used the Samsung washing machine for its intended purpose and did not deviate from product care instructions. Even with this diligence, Irma had reportedly begun experiencing Samsung washing machine rusting just one year after her home. Irma says she spoke to Samsung representatives repeatedly about the issue, with the company sending several technicians to her home.
According to the lawsuit, Samsung had repeatedly stated that rust was not a serious problem and would not impact the machine’s functionality. However, company representatives also informed Irma that Samsung washing machine rusting was not covered by any of the warranties provided by the company and that Samsung would not refund the money for her purchase or compensate her for any damages.
Even with the company’s promises, Irma says the Samsung washing machine rusting problems eventually caused damage to her clothing and became unusable. Irma says she has since been forced to spend money to replace her damaged clothes, and has been forced to resort to using a laundromat to wash her clothes.
Furthermore, Irma says she spent numerous hours talking with Samsung representatives, pleading with the company to either replace or repair the washing machine. Prior to purchasing the machine, Irma had reviewed Samsung’s advertisements regarding the top loader washing machine, and she understood that the machine would not rust and was a high quality product.
The company allegedly advertised the stainless steel drum in the washing barrel to be “gentler on clothes than traditional washers.” In addition to the alleged false claims, Samsung allegedly failed to give Irma a warranty policy to explain its terms before purchasing the washing machine.
This Samsung Class Action Lawsuit is Case No. 3lII-2EI1S-EIEIQBSQZE-CU-FR-CXC, in the Superior Court of the State of California, Orange County.

My top load Samsung washer is rusted, leaking and smell horrible. I’ve tried reaching out to Samsung with no resolution.
I purchased my Samsung washer in 2018. I purchased a 5 yr extended warranty with my washer and dryer I bought together at home depot. I called assurian that I have the extended warranty through. I was on the phone for quite awhile. I was told its not covered because a chemical must have caused it to rust. They connected me to Samsung. They said its no longer under warranty with them I knew that. The extended warranty is still in effect. Its so frustrating as many of you know with the long wait on the phone an having to repeat yourself to more than one person. I dont know what to do next
My Samsung washer is doing the same thing. It’s rusting out where you pour the bleach in. It’s a top load model only. I only bought it like 3 years ago and I just had to buy another washer because the basket almost fell out that you put the bleach in. I have photos though and I think they should replace it but when I called they told me that it was my fault because I didn’t leave the washer open
