Certain milk products in Canada have been recalled due to the presence of sanitizer.
Agropur Cooperative issued the recall earlier this month due to the presence of sanitizer in some of its milk products that may make the milk unsafe to drink. According to Agropur, the affected milk products were distributed in Ontario and Quebec.
The milk recall warning was issued on Jan. 24. The warning was amended on Jan. 27 to correctly identify the contaminated milk products.
If you have any of the recalled milk products in your home, do not consume them. If you do consume the contaminated milk, you may experience symptoms such as upset stomach, nausea or vomiting.
The recalled milk products include:
- Sealtest 2L Skim Milk (UPC 64420001412)
- Sealtest 4L Skim Milk (UPC 64420001405)
- Sealtest 4L 1% Milk (UPC 64420001603)
- Sealtest 4L 2% Milk (UPC 64420000774)
- Sealtest 1L 2% Milk (UPC 64420000798)
- L’ecole, c’est nourissant 150mL 2% Milk (UPC 55872001068)
- Sealtest 1L 3.25% Milk (UPC 64420000224)
If you have any of these milk products in your home, you should either throw them out or return them to the store from which they were purchased.
Even if the milk does not look or smell spoiled, it may still be contaminated with sanitizer residue and cause health issues if consumed.
There has reportedly been one illness associated with consumption of the contaminated milk products. A class 2 recall has been issued for the milk products.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating the food safety concerns and verifying that the recalled milk products are removed from stores. The CFIA will issue an updated food recall warning if any other products are recalled.

10 thoughts onCanada Milk Products Recalled Due to Sanitizer Contamination
i drink the milk all the time, and I want you to add me to the list, as i can remember getting ill in january and it was from the milk i drank
Add me please
My husband drinks the Sealtest 2% on a daily bases mostly with chocolate mix, so if there had been a bad taste the chocolate would have masked it. I also drink the 2%, but not daily as my husband does.
Add me to the class action
Drank it every now and then
Drank it but I thought it was because I m not crazy about milk. I just drink it to get the calcium
My grandkids and I enjoy our snacks of milk and cookies and were grossed out that our fun routine was spoiled by contaminated milk. Makes me feel like a lousy gramma that I didn’t keep my grandkids protected from a contaminated product.
I’m a caregiver. My roommate (who has a brain injury) drank the milk even though he said it had a funny taste but insisted it was good since it didn’t curdle. He thought it was his altered taste buds due to the special diet he had to follow for a few days for a medical test. He felt more ill but figured it had to do with the gut discomfort already felt…until I heard of the recall, checked the milk, and threw the rest (3 litres worth) of the crap out.
drank it before the recall! crap
Had upset stomach and threw up
