Boar’s Head recall overview:

  • Who: Supreme Service Solutions, LLC, is recalling Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano Cheese, affecting select products.
  • Why: The recall was initiated due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States, specifically in Kroger retail stores located in Kentucky and Indiana.

Supreme Service Solutions, LLC, operating as Supreme Deli, is recalling Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano Cheese due to concerns over potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The Boar’s Head recall specifically affects certain products distributed in Kroger stores across Kentucky and Indiana.

The recall, announced Nov. 24, and involves Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese, packaged in 6 oz containers with item code 858 and case UPC 042421-05858, as well as FS Grated Romano Cheese with item code 15119 and case UPC 042421-15119. These products have sell-by dates ranging from November 21, 2025, to March 12, 2026.

According to the Boar’s Hoad recall notice, the potential contamination was identified by Ambriola Company, which supplies the cheese to Boar’s Head. “Ambriola Company has issued a Class I recall for the items due to potential adulteration with Listeria monocytogenes,” the recall says.

Recall notice: Discard potentially contaminated cheese

Consumers are urged to discard any of the affected Boar’s Head cheese products immediately. The recall notice emphasizes that the products are past their shelf life and should no longer be in distribution.

However, if consumers still possess these products, they should not consume them. The products in question are packaged in clear-plastic grab-n-go containers, resembling deli salads and wraps, with specific best-by dates.

Supreme Deli is taking proactive measures to ensure consumer safety by assisting in the recall process. The company has decided to withdraw all products produced by Ambriola Company for Boar’s Head, even those not directly affected by the recall, as a precautionary measure.

For further information, consumers can contact The Ambriola Company, Inc via email at [email protected]. This contact is available for any questions or concerns regarding the Boar’s Head recall.

Supreme Service Solutions, LLC, reports that no illnesses or consumer complaints have been linked to the recalled products so far. The company is not currently facing any legal action over the recall, but such situations are monitored closely as they can sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Boar’s Head was hit with a number of lawsuits earlier this year alleging false advertising and claims of intentional misrepresentation due to product recalls and inspection reports alleging unsanitary conditions at meatpacking facilities.
