An Aquasana problems class action lawsuit investigation has been initiated due to significant flooding and property damage that purchasers say were caused by problems with the reverse osmosis water- filtration system.
Customers say they have directly complained to the company of the damage and leakage. The company never informed them or the public of these risks, they say, nor did the company announce a recall over the reported Aquasana problems.
Overview: Aquasana Problems
There are several different kinds of water filtration systems and products manufactured by Aquasana. Some products manufactured by the company, formerly known as Sun Water Systems, are water softeners, shower filters, water bottles, drinking water filters, and whole house water filters.
A reverse osmosis water filtration system manufactured by the company and sold for approximately $275 has led customers to complain of several Aquasana problems, among them water damage and leakage. These issues may result even if the water filtration system worked well for several years.
The reverse osmosis system is installed under a kitchen sink. At the top of the sink, filtered water flows through a separate water faucet. However, among detailed complaints cited by several customers in online reviews, the Aquasana filter broke and leaked, causing property damage.
In one report, a couple noticed that they had a leak supposedly happening for several weeks. They claim that after pulling out their kitchen cabinet flooring, they realized that the particle board subfloor was soaked with a lot of water and was seriously damaged. Mold became a serious concern for them, especially in relation to their cabinets.
They also maintain that after calling the company and explaining the damage that occurred, the company promised to restore the couple’s kitchen and replace some of the damages. The couple received a check to cover some of the damage, but they say it doesn’t even begin to cover the total damage caused by the filtration system.
In another customer complaint made to Consumer Reports, a customer shared that he purchased a second Aquasana water filter system after his first one failed and caused flooding below his kitchen sick. The second system, marketed to be an improved design, was found to cause similar Aquasana problems as the first system. There have been several customers with similar complaints.
The Aquasana system is reportedly manufactured with locking tabs that should seal tight to block out water. But mini cracks tend to form because of the stress, according to customer complaints. As cracks continue to grow, water continues to leak, eventually causing property damage and leakage. Surrounding structures, kitchen counters, kitchen floor, and the under-the-sink area all become affected by the water leakage.
Although the company states that they have updated the design of the product, customers are still finding the product to cause the same leakage and damage problems.
If you own or have previously owned an Aquasana reverse osmosis water filtration system and have suffered from Aquasana problems, you may be eligible to file a water filter defect lawsuit or class action lawsuit.
